Creating a space to entertain was the top priority in this Mukwonago kitchen remodel. The homeowners wanted seating and counter space for hosting parties and watching sports. By opening the dining room wall, we extended the kitchen area. We added an island and custom designed furniture-style bar cabinet with retractable pocket doors. A new awning window overlooks the backyard and brings in natural light. Many in-cabinet storage features keep this kitchen neat and organized.
Bar Cabinet
The furniture-style bar cabinet has retractable pocket doors and a drop-in quartz counter. The homeowners can entertain in style, leaving the doors open during parties. Guests can grab a glass of wine or make a cocktail right in the cabinet.
Outlet Strips
Outlet strips on the island and peninsula keeps the end panels of the island and peninsula clean. The outlet strips also gives them options for plugging in appliances during parties.
Modern Farmhouse Design
The design of this kitchen is modern farmhouse. The materials, patterns, color and texture define this space. We used shades of golds and grays in the cabinetry, backsplash and hardware. The chevron backsplash and shiplap island adds visual interest.
Custom Cabinetry
This kitchen features frameless custom cabinets with light rail molding. It’s designed to hide the under cabinet lighting and angled plug molding. Putting the outlets under the cabinets keeps the backsplash uninterrupted.
Storage Features
Efficient storage and organization was important to these homeowners.
We opted for deep drawers to allow for easy access to stacks of dishes and bowls.
Under the cooktop, we used custom drawer heights to meet the homeowners’ storage needs.
A third drawer was added next to the spice drawer rollout.
Narrow pullout cabinets on either side of the cooktop for spices and oils.
The pantry rollout by the double oven rotates 90 degrees.
Other Updates
Staircase – We updated the staircase with a barn wood newel post and matte black balusters
Fireplace – We whitewashed the fireplace and added a barn wood mantel and pilasters.

It's the little details that matter. This electrical pop-up outlet has been set into the quartz countertop on the kitchen island. A great way to avoid any trailing cables when using laptops or small appliances.

We had to put outlets on the island but didn't want them visible on the sides or on the surface of the counter. We had no option but to put them where the counter waterfalled down the ends of the island. To hide them we had the counter installer cut a hole where we had recessed the outlet. Then the installer cut a separate plug from a spare piece of counter to fit the hole and match the pattern. Three rare earth magnets epoxied to the back of the counter plug holds it in place over the outlet. It is removed by pushing in on the bottom which forces the top to pop out so it can be removed. The magnets stick to three screws which allow the plug to be adjusted to be perfectly flush with the surface. When the counter plug is in, the location of the outlet is nearly invisible. No one has ever found it without being told where it is.

This client wanted to do a bathroom remodel to give their master bathroom a more updated look and to make it more suited to their lifestyle. They rarely used their tub and said they would prefer to have a much larger shower instead. The lady of the house also wanted to have a comfortable area for putting on make-up. There were two closets, but neither of them was large enough to be functional.
Removing the wall between the tub and the vanity allowed us to open up the space and make room for a larger shower. This also helped to optimize the natural light coming in from the window. By relocating the other walls we were able to turn the two small closets into one large custom walk-in closet.
We decided to float the cabinets to make the room feel larger. These also give the room an upscale, contemporary look. This is further accented by the large shelf in the shower. We added even more character to the room with the “Brown Rain Forest” marble countertop on the vanity and the mosaic used in the shower. We also installed wall faucets and vessel sinks.
We installed a round, pivoting mirror to allow make the application of make-up more comfortable whether sitting or standing. Electrical plugs were installed inside the cabinet drawers and on the countertop for easy access. Finally, a small space for a television was created so the clients could stay informed while getting ready in the morning, or to help them relax at the end of the day. The end result was the dramatic change this client had been looking for.

This kitchen needed a facelift. The existing cherry cabinets were painted Valspar's "Safari Brown." The laminate countertops were replaced with Cambria's "Bradshaw" quartz. New linear hardware was added and a cut stone backsplash adds a fresh rustic look. The desk area features a cork backsplash (from remnants of cork flooring.)
Other updates include LED undercabinet lighting on a motion timer, integrated USB chargers in the outlets and upper cabinet lighting with frosted glass.

A rural hillside residence in Downeast Maine serves as a model for regenerating fragmented native plant communities and restoring damaged site systems. Sensible land management practices guide the homeowner’s efforts to rehabilitate expansive areas of mown lawn. Spaces carved from the landscape overlook stunning panoramic regional views, while new plantings define edges and thresholds. Brilliant seasonal drama is heightened along mown paths meandering through a rich tapestry of managed native meadow.
