We are a residential and commercial interior design firm based in the Washington, D.C. area. Whether it’s a single room or a large remodeling project, our desire is to create functional living spaces with comfort and style while capturing our client’s vision and individuality. Barbara Meyer (Principal Designer and Founder) has more than 25 years experience designing residential and commercial interiors. With a strong ongoing appreciation of the fine arts, she cherishes the beauty of a wide array of styles throughout art history. Having lived in Europe, this designer respects the beauty of a wide range of building and decorating periods. Her design process is pragmatic so that the rooms function well, as well as display creative elements. Fresh ideas that place functionality and purpose first - can also display a stylish flair.

Barbara Meyer did an outstanding job for me with my move from our single family home to o a condo in Reston, VA. Barbara has been consulting for me for decades and continues to be a trusted and talented design resource. My new condo had been a corporate rental and Barbara has worked with me to transform it into a lovely, warm and creative home environment. Beyond her design advice, Barbara referred me to experts in kitchen remodeling, bedroom spaces for my grandkids, and found an excellent art framer to turn an artistic table i made myself 50 years ago into a personal heirloom piece of art that will hang on my kitchen wall. Beyond her extensive expertise in design, Barbara brought her friendly and humorous nature into everything she did for me. I give her 5 Stars and recommend her highly!!! Lynne Revo-Cohen

My wife and I hired Barbara from B Design Life to help with our kitchen renovation and she was a valuable advisor on our team. She acted as a design consultant and helped us execute our ideas. We had a lot of inspiration from various sources but needed help putting it all together in a cohesive way. We purchased sample materials and presented our ideas to Barbara, then discussed the pros and cons of different design options with her. We talked about everything from hardware pulls and faucets to backsplashes, pendant lights, bar stools, tables, and chairs. Barbara's input helped us make quick and decisive decisions and gave us the confidence to have our contractors implement our decisions. Barbara also curated ideas for areas of the house that we didn't know what to do with, like our dining nook. We had limited space for a dining area because we expanded the kitchen, but she found the perfect table that fits in the nook. Unfortunately, we've had some supply chain issues, so we're still working on implementing these ideas and expect to finish by January or February 2023. Overall, we're very happy with the help and support Barbara provided during our project and recommend her without reservation.

Barbara is collaborative and took time to develop a plan that was truly unique and in line with our vision. Barbara has the connections to bring in any trades person or artisan necessary to create the pieces nor complete the work necessary. It has been a pleasure working with Barbara, she is extremely hard working and very available.

Barbara has a sense of fun in carrying out the design process that helped stimulate our imagination. We love the way the room came out. Barbara supervised the installs and made sure that the lighting and cabinetry came out the way we wanted. She was good about keeping in touch and sharing ideas about the project.

I have used Barbara at The B Design Group for two of my homes now. I liked what she did with my apartment so much that I had her design my new home. She does a great job of forming the look you really want, and accommodating your taste. She’ll work hard for you and make the process as easy going as possible. I moved from Reston VA to New Jersey, and she still worked with me out of state and got the job done with little hassel. Plus she’s a pleasure to work with!

Working with The B Design Group is a pleasure. We have used them several times over the last 25 years. Barbara first helped us to furnish our basement after it was finished. Then she designed and refurnished the waiting room in my husband’s office. Then she helped to update our living and dinning room making use of much of what we already had. She assisted in the redo of our kitchen. From art to furnishings to paint color and placement, Barbara has exquisite taste at reasonable cost.
