Odell Painting

We recently hired Odell Painting to paint our hallway entrance and stairway. This was a very detailed job with many intersecting walls and trim surfaces. Ken opened up the various color possibilities while diligently listening to our requests. Ken and his team did a very meticulous and detail driven job!!! We highly recommend him and would not hesitate to have him back for future work.

My house looks wonderful. I was pleased with the experience from start to finish. Ken gave me an estimate, explained everything and answered all my questions. The crew of painters did an excellent job - very professional. They left the house in better shape than when they started (the windows were cleaner) and everything was done to my satisfaction. We experienced water damage in our home and hired Odell Painting to repair and paint the ceilings and walls in six rooms and our two story foyer and hallway. Ken and his team were a pleasure to work with! Not only did they do a great job, they worked with me over several months as I dealt with the insurance company and other contractors. In addition, Ken and his team are very neat and tidy and great guys you can absolutely trust to leave alone in your home.

Ken was very attentive to our needs and our time frame in getting the work completed. His work is excellent and I happily refer him to my clients!

We live in a 31 year old cedar sided home. For the life of the house, it has been periodically cleaned and re-stained, using an oil based stain. The trim and doors were always painted with a latex product. The painted areas held up well but the stained areas, despite our best efforts, continued to deteriorate with respect to looks. Over the years, we had used a variety of people, from reputable small contractors to local big firms with big crews. None did the work the way we wanted and the positive improvements were always short-lived. Not unreasonably, we had to re-stain every 3 to 4 years, but the results were worse each time. We began to really research our options over a year ago, with more intensity during this past winter. We even considered removal of the cedar and replacing it with a low maintenance man-made product, but it really would not have been the right look for our house. So we decided getting the house stained and painted correctly was the best option, but it had to be done by someone who would approach the project differently than just doing a routine repainting or restaining. We spent several months looking for someone who viewed painting as a craft, not merely an exercise in maintenance. Ken Odell and his team turned out to be everything that we hoped. He interviewed us for about 90 minutes to understand our needs. His approach was calm, professional, methodical, and analytical as he suggested his thoughts for the best way to proceed. And he continued that communication throughout a project that ended up being well over one month long. It was apparent that he takes great pride in his work. Prior to engaging him, he gave us some owners/addresses to contact or properties to visit to get a sense of his skills. We never called anyone but we did do some drive-bys and liked what we saw. He gave us some recent projects to look at but also a house that he had done four or five years ago. All looked great. In late March, we contracted with Odell Painting to begin work in May, which they did. Before a brush ever hit a paint bucket, they spent several days prepping the house. His team is friendly, conscientious, thorough, and professional in every way. They arrived on time, left no mess (cleaning up and stowing equipment every day), and were meticulous in their work. A neighbor referred to the team as "The Professors" for their disciplined approach to getting it right. Every single inch of our property (siding, trim, deck, and new garage doors) was redone. Other than getting new shutters ordered and installed, we are done. We could not be more pleased. We went from natural (dirty) brown stained siding (which still looked good from a distance but increasingly bad when viewed up close) to a solid pale green stain from Sherwin Williams accented with a cream trim and eggplant colored doors. When it was about done, Ken came by and did a complete walk around with us, making a “punch list” to ensure that it was done to our satisfaction. There was almost nothing on that punch list. As a side note, and an example of Ken wanting to do it right; prior to starting the deck portion of the project, he brought the factory rep from Sherwin Williams by to look at the deck and recommend how to best prep and stain it so that it would last. In 30 years, no other painter has ever done that; they just open a bucket and apply the product. So we are very pleased. One neighbor called the end result beautiful and "striking". We could not agree more. And when you please yourself and your neighbors, you know it's right. If we could give more than 5 stars, we would. Very happy.

We live in an old stone home (c.1805) that needed a serious master bedroom do over. After hardwood floors were installed and finished, it was time to address the walls and trim work with a fresh coat of paint. We decided to call Odell Painting for an estimate. Ken arrived on time for the scheduled appointment. He was very professional and immediately assessed the scope of work necessary to complete our restoration project. Ken demonstrated a keen sense of appropriateness and knowledge of historic properties. Throughout the entire painting project, Ken kept us informed and suggested ideas that had not received our prior attention. The painters arrived early and stayed late every day. Ken and his crew were extremely meticulous in all phases of their labors. At project's end, a relationship had developed that went beyond the norms of contractor/client. We highly recommend Odell Painting to anyone who wants the highest quality of work for their money. Ken is a true craftsman. We look forward to the day when Ken crosses our threshold once again to practice his craft. Our master bedroom is beautiful!

Ken Odell worked on my parent's 250 year old, stone, farm house in Buckingham for the past fifteen years at least. His fine sense of color steered my mother through some possible disasters, and his honesty and stellar work ethic comforted my family through years of familial ups and downs. His integrity and reliability was second only to his skills with the brush and understanding of old house quirks. Without Ken Odell and his staff, the Garb family home would never have lasted all these years. I can confidently say that Ken Odell is the best painter I have ever known, and I recommend him widely.

Ken Odell and company did a great job painting the inside of our home as well as the shutters and outside doors. The quality of the work was excellent. They were professional, respectful and timely.

Recently Ken from Odell Painting painted our formal living room, using gold metallic paint. Painting with metallic is very difficult, but the end product, beautiful. Ken is very meticulous and really cares about the 'end result'. We plan to hire him both for additional indoor painting but also for the exterior of our house.

We have used Odell Painting twice, each time with great satisfaction. The first was back in 2006 when we moved into our house. Ken painted every interior room and ceiling, including bathrooms and kitchen, after first completing some rather challenging prep work. Everything was done within our original cost estimate and with a remarkable attention to detail, as if Ken was painting his own house. Now, almost 10 years later, the interior still looks wonderful. Last year, Odell Painting completed some exterior work, including our garage door and front door. Again, we were very pleased with the results. We hired Ken and his team for both indoor and outdoor work for damage sustained from storms last winter. Not only was the work meticulous, but the cost extremely reasonable.
