Nouvel Kitchen and Bath

Nouvel Kitchen and Bath is awesome. I found them at the Dulles Expo Home Show and knew right away that they were the design build firm for me. First of all, they didn't talk down to me. Second of all, they were one of the only vendors showcasing a modern design style. My aesthetic is very Scandinavian and all the other firms displayed a more traditional / formal style, which is really not my thing. My project was bigger than just a kitchen renovation. I basically gutted the main floor of my townhouse. Here is a summary of the big things Nouvel did for me: 1. Raised my super low ceilings. Seriously, the ceilings were only 7' 6" high! Nouvel was able to add an extra 18" of ceiling height in my living room and 12" in the kitchen. It instantly seemed more spacious 2. Removed 2 walls to create an open concept space. One wall was non-load bearing and fairly simple to remove. The other wall was holding up my house. They were able to remove it by bringing in an enormous steel I-beam that looked like it weighed several thousand pounds! There is no way my 3rd floor is crashing down with that giant beam holding it up. 3. Renovated my kitchen. This was a big job. Nouvel moved plumbing and electric, added a stove vent (vented it outside), moved heating / cooling vents, removed and installed new cabinetry, replaced the floors, installed appliances and tiled a wall. I have all new lighting as well. I am so in love with my kitchen. It looks fabulous! 4. Installed all new flooring. Tile in the kitchen, bathroom, and entryway. Hardwood laminate flooring everywhere else. They also leveled my floors a bit which were very out of plumb. There were a couple bumps on the road but nothing worth mentioning because Nouvel corrected them all. Here's the other thing... all the construction staff were employees of Nouvel, not contractors. The team was at my house every day, including weekends. I've heard stories where the construction staff will just disappear for a week or so. That did not happen with me. The construction team was very friendly, trustworthy, and patient with my dogs. Nouvel's design and management team were also excellent. They listened to my design ideas and even gave me discounts to accommodate my budget. Project took longer to complete than anticipated but that's the way it goes. My renovations required 3 separate permits (structural, plumbing, and electrical) and I passed without a hitch. I would totally recommend Nouvel for anyone looking for a modern design.

Nouvel was initially brought in to provide the custom cabinetry for our mudroom project. However when our general contractor had issues, and needs to be replaced we turned to Nouvel to save our project. Chris and his team worked tirelessly to get help get our project back on track. After find a new general contractor we were able to move forward. Nouvel helped to work with the new contractor to ensure our original design would work. While we did have several issues with the supplier of the cabinets Nouvel again went above and beyond for us as customers to make it right. In the end we ended up with a world class mudroom that our friends and family are astonished by. We are fully confident that this project would not have been such a success without Chris Peters and the team from Nouvel.

"I used Nouvel Kitchen and Bath to redesign my kitchen to include installing the new cabinetry, tile and stone. The style of the project is contemporary. We used dark wood grain base cabinets and white lacquered cabinets wall cabinets with under cabinet lighting. Nouvel did a good job designing the kitchen and taking into consideration our style and requirements. The price was good and the installation went relatively smoothly. We hired Nouvel to renovate several rooms in our 1957 split level home. They successfully remodeled 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and the kitchen. The kitchen required the removal of a load barring wall -- no easy task, the rerouting of all the HVAC duct work, new tile flooring & back splash, replacement of all the cabinetry with new product, a lot of wiring and even some gas piping. Not only was the work done to an appreciated level of excellence, but they also provided several of the key design elements and remained flexible throughout the process with regard to the changes we desired midstream. Definitely recommend!

I use Remington as the builder for an addition to my house -- approximately 1000 sq feet, including garage and living space. I highly recommend them for home improvement projects, both large and small. On the positive side, they are cost effective, easy to contract with, do high quality work, and bring reliable, honest, and customer-focused trades to the task. They consistently provide reliable cost estimates for the project up front, and stick to the estimates without a bunch of change orders or scope adjustments. After the job is done, they provide nice support to the customer in addressing loose ends responsively and without charge. Although I experienced some delays in finishing the project, these were understandable (bad weather this winter in the NE!) and where I needed them to reach a certain milestone (getting "under roof") they worked the extra hours to make it happen. I have no hesitation in recommending Remington to others considering similar work in the greater DC area.
