Van Tyson of Tyson Custom Homes recently did a complete remodel on a home we purchased at The Lsndings last June for our retirement & " forever" home. We were not living in Savannah at the time & having built a home 30 years ago on this same island, we were somewhat hesitant to do a total remodel from nearly 700 miles away. However, after meeting with Van and hearing and seeing his vision and ideas for making our updated home one where we could Age in Place, be handicap accessible so that my 90 year old mother and our aging friends would feel comfortable visiting, we felt that Tyson Custom Homes was capable of turning our dream into a reality. From the begining Van took the lead and went with us to speak with the architect, who after listening to us, did a beautiful job on paper on the interior remodel taking out walls and adding columns, bumping up the ceilings in three rooms and adding coffers or trays, making a shower wheelchair accessible with no "lip", widening doorways and our screened porch addition for which we had to get special approval from both the neighborhood review board and county. Van capably steered all of this trough for us. He toured us through current homes being built by him, as well as other builders in the area which gave us many ideas that we used to update our 1986 built home. Throughout the demolition and remodel process, Van kept us aware of what was happening in our house with pictures almost weekly. He was prompt on answering all texts, phone calls and emails. He lead us to very capable and affordable suppliers and polite, efficient and reliable subs, keeping our budget and end result in mind. We've only been in our "forever home" a month, but fall more in love with it more each & every day. Van has continued to check in with us on little "tweeks" and even bid on & was approved by Comcast's Insurance carrier to do the repairs to our ceiling where their workman put his foot through. He has made suggestions for landscapers which we look forward to meeting and making the outside of our home as pretty as the interior. Although young in comparison to a lot of other builders in this area, Tyson Custom Homes has performed exceptionally well and earned a 5 star rating with us. We would use Van again, but he has given us our "Forever Home", so we'll stay put forever.

I have been working with Van for a couple of years now. His ideas and constant fine turning is what make his finished homes something that you would want as your own. He makes sure the building is sound for the product behind the walls, but then add details to make it pop!

Van Tyson was the BEST. Total remodel of kitchen and other living spaces. On top of everything and helpful with design decisions as well. Had the right people there for each job and showed great attention to detail. Extremely reliable and fair....would definitely use him again for projects of any scope.

The construction and historical renovation was handled professionally with clear communication and consistent progress reports.
