Melinda Hipsher 'Cardinal Winter' Canvas Art, 47"x30"by Trademark Fine Art
From an early age, I felt compelled to draw and paint, often with encouragement of my teachers and family. As I grew up into a practical young woman, I began to think that painting was something one did for enjoyment, not as a serious career. My head told me to be practical, but my heart told me another story. I went to the Columbus College of Art and Design to study advertising. My heart won out on the location though and I was brought back to the country air in Hardin County. I live in the country and am inspired by nature every day. I live here with my husband, Wes, three children, Molly, Kyle and Brady, a golden retriever, Grace, and Kitty, the kitty. My art captures moments that I see in nature and the moments from holidays and celebrations. I have worked in the graphic arts department in the printing industry and have been involved with many different print materials. I have worked with watercolor and also enjoy painting on wood with acrylic paints. I can paint realistic beautiful images or can illustrate a moment from my imagination.

Bill Makinson 'Snow Wolf' Canvas Art, 19"x14"by Trademark Fine Art
Although I had no formal training, it was obvious at school that I had a gift for art and crafts. I was happy doing bookbinding with artistic gold leaf lettering embossed on the cover and spine, but I was thrilled when it was the art lesson and always attempted more adventurous subjects. Drawing on location at a local farm was always a memorable time. Music and sport were other subjects that I excelled. Woodwork was a particularly favourite subject that I was skilled at, and making furniture was something I would have like to have done on leaving school. But things don_t always work according to plan and I suppose I am lucky just how things have turned out.

Growing up along the countryside of Minnesota and Wisconsin provided me with a passion for the outdoors ever since I can remember. What I remember most is I was always trying to capture my time spent outside on paper. I've always loved to draw, but somewhere in my heart I knew that wildlife was what I really wanted to do. I received my bachelors degree in wildlife biology from the University of North Dakota. I worked for six years as a wildlife professional for Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, and the Minnesota DNR.
