Built as a palace entrance door, this massive antique Indian double door gate was crafted from thick teak wood with iron strapping and metal clad covering to protect it from attacks and extreme temperature. This large and impressive piece of architectural Indian history was used in the past as an entrance to important buildings such as temples, palaces, and forts. Originally used as gateway doors for a walled courtyard to allow elephants and carriages through. This amazing Indian gate stands at almost 10’ tall but has a small wicket gate, which was used as the daily door for people to walk in.
This 19th century metal gate has a patinated dark finish, decorative brass engraved details and nail heads. Shows wear marks, cracks and blemishes natural to its age.
