Children loves spaces that were designed specifically with them in mind, which is why it's worth it to buy furniture that fits them perfectly. This helps create a child-centered environment that encourages children to play, draw, create, and imagine — while in total comfort. Childrens table and chairs are the perfect way to make this happen, and with a wide selection of sizes, shapes and colors, you're sure to find a set that fits your child's needs.
When looking at the different types of children's tables, keep quality, ease of cleaning, and safety in mind. You don't want to have a table with any sharp edges, screws, corners, or anything else your child can get hurt on.
Plastic: Probably the most popular choice of kids table materials, plastic is available in a wide variety of styles, colors, and at many different retailers. It's also not very expensive. Light plastic tables are easy to move around, and come in a lot of different sizes (some are even foldable for storage), so they can fit in any room in the house. Usually the edges are rounded, which helps prevent any injuries. Also, any colored plastic will fade in the sun.
Wooden Wooden tables do tend to be a little more expensive, but they also have a wide price range. If you've chosen a more inexpensive model, check the thickness of the wood — thinner wood has a tendency to warp easier with age (especially if placed outside). Wood table also look a little better in the home, and come in many colors and styles. However, if not treated correctly, they can get rough and splintery. Some models also have sharp edges, and can be a bit heavier and more difficult to move.
Metal Metal children's tables aren't quite as common as wooden and plastic models, generally because of the risk of sharp edges and corners. The main benefit of course is style, and the fact that they're long lasting and very easy to clean. Keep in mind that they can rust if used outdoors. Metal tables come in a variety of colors, and can be very light, or very heavy, depending on the model.
Choosing a size of table really depends on the age of a child, and how long you want this table to last for. Ideally, you want a table that can last them for quite a bit of time, through many different age ranges. But at certain ages, this isn't always realistic. A toddler table and chairs that can comfortably seat a toddler won't be able to seat an 11 year old — or vice versa. Really think about what kind of investment you're willing to make. If you do buy an expensive toddler-sized table, will you be able to use it again? Or pass it on to someone else?
For every style of dining, kitchen, and coffee table out there, there's a corresponding children's table in a similar style. It doesn't matter if your style is more traditional, modern, or contemporary — just make sure you choose something that's durable, and that your child will enjoy too! A wooden kids table is always a trendy and durable choice, but a plastic kids table set is a popular option as well.
There are also a lot of different types of specialty childrens tables. Think about what your child enjoys to do, and what type of table they'll get the most use out of. Craft and drawing tables, art table for kids, chalkboard tables, marker board tables, sand tables, and water tables are all popular choices that encourage specific types of activities in children.
