Monteleone Hotel 1940 Vintage Menu Art Print, 16"x20"by Cool Culinaria(2)
$60
Free Shipping
Cool Culinaria Giclee Prints on 300-315 GSM archival art paper.
This fabulous menu cover, in shades of blue that seem to shimmer, is from New Orleans' famous Hotel Monteleone. For more than a hundred years, the hotel has been offering hospitality to its guests and this post-Prohibition bar menu is both lovely to look at and interesting to read. The menu offers flips, egg nogs and fizzes. There are more than 50 types of whiskeys and a handsome selection of gins, liqueurs and cordials.
Dated to the 1930s, the menu advertises "The New Cocktail Lounge and Bar," probably opened in honor of the fact that everyone could safely buy and sell alcohol again. This menu pre-dates the hotel's famous revolving Carousel Bar, which was installed in 1949.
Antonio Monteleone, a Sicilian shoemaker, founded the hotel in 1880. From modest beginnings, the property has undergone many expansions but is still owned today by the Monteleones. It remains one of the last, great family-owned hotels in the United States.
Because of its literary connections, as the hotel has been mentioned in many novels by southern writers and Ernest Hemingway, and Tennessee Williams and Truman Capote stayed here, The Monteleone was designated as an official literary landmark by the Friends of The Library Association.

"Redhead Harp" by Vintage Apple Collection, Canvas Artby Trademark Fine Art
These posters got their start in the late 1800s when brands hired artists and illustrators to create their ads and announcements for various products such as chocolates, alcohol, soap, or cigarettes. This was the time when the development of mass printing emerged and this new technology allowed for low-cost reproductions with vibrant colors. These works on posters became more affordable than original art and grew in popularity. This new industry attracted many aspiring artists looking to generate revenue from their work. The commercial success of these posters began the trend of the vintage poster, which has continued into the 21st century.
Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting.
