Nambe 9" Square Metal Alloy Serving Platter - New
Be practical and stylish at the same time with any of our generously sized Square Platters. Made from our remarkable thermal-retentive signature metal, these platters (or plates in the 9" x 9" size) are great for both cold and hot foods. For cold foods, chill the metal in the freezer and then bring it right to the table; for hot foods, warm in the oven first. And here's yet another reason to consider the Square Platter: it was the first piece recognized by New York's Museum of Modern Art and it is now in their permanent collection.
Nambé's square metal plate was the first Nambé item to be recognized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and is now in the museum's permanent collection. Designed by sculptor Richard K. Thomas, who also designed Nambé's iconic Butterfly and Tri-Corner bowls, the square plate is a true contemporary classic. With its rounded corners and slight rim, the nine-inch plate makes an excellent small serving platter for appetizers, and serves as an individual plate for a sandwich, side salad, or dessert. The durable metal is safe for chilling in a freezer or warming in an oven before use, and retains its temperature for quite some time. While the gleaming metal will not tarnish, chip, or crack, the plate may not be used in a microwave or dishwasher. Washing by hand preserves the mirror finish. Nambé was founded in 1951 in a village of the same name in scenic northern New Mexico. From the beginning, the company focused on hand-producing high-quality, functional metal items such as bowls and trays with great attention to timeless, modern design.

The Nambe Square Platter is an Original Nambe design introduced in 1956 and designed by Richard K. Thomas. In 1956, this Square Platter became the first Nambé piece recognized by New York's Museum of Modern Art and is now in its permanent collection. With its rounded corners and slight rim, this 11-inch platter is perfect for serving hors d'oeuvres, a dessert with sauce, and many other food items. Made with Nambe's unique, signature metal alloy, this tray can withstand extreme heat, on top of the stove or in the oven. This platter also retains the heat, making it an excellent platter for serving sizzling fajitas, spanakopita, or myriad other entrees and finger foods. Whether you cook a steak on this platter or serve a ready made steak to retain the optimal temperature, this 11” platter is a true contemporary classic. It's equally useful chilled; just place it in the freezer until you're ready to serve. While the gleaming metal will not tarnish, chip, or crack, the plate may not be used in a microwave or dishwasher. For best care and to preserve the mirror finish, hand wash; dry immediately. This platter also makes the perfect gift or momento; engrave this platter with a quote, poem, wedding vows, or the wedding invitation for a thoughtful holiday or wedding gift. Recognized for its award-winning designs for more than 60 years, Nambe's commitment to timeless beauty, artistic integrity and uncompromising quality is evident in the brand's collection of serve ware, barware, home décor and gift items. Nambe collaborates with the world's most esteemed designers to develop products that bring function and style into the home.
