Blythe Haynes from BSH Design

Blyth did a amazing job on our home, her communication and attention to detail was everything we where looking for. She had a deadline and was able to not only meet but at times finish ahead, I would recommend BSH for all my housing design needs.

Sadly we are the latest victims of Blythe. The other 1-star reviews are spot on with what happened to us. Like the other reviewer said, take these recent reviews seriously. I wish I had, but our builder recommended her. They haven't worked with her recently and in the past she was fine (as evidenced by the high reviews) but in these last few months she has become completely unprofessional. Its sad to see someone tarnish their legacy like this. If you hire her, expect to lose a lot of time and money and not receive anything. If you still don't believe these reviews at least do NOT give her a deposit upfront. She will cash it instantly and that is the last you will see of your money. I deeply regret giving Blythe the benefit of the doubt and allowing her to string us along week after week, excuse after excuse. She has caused an enormous amount of stress on our timeline for closing and we have to renegotiate all of our contracts now. The icing on the cake is that after wasting over a month of our time she is refusing to even return our money. Yes, despite us having not received anything. We had to move forward with another architect just so we could HOPE to negotiate our closing timeline. The new architect is so much better and we have already done multiple iterations with them. After 5.5 weeks with Blythe we did not even receive the PRELIMINARY drawings, which she said would only take up to 1.5 weeks and earlier emails suggested an even faster turnaround than that. Multiple iterations with Blythe would probably take years. By the way, if she replies to this, you will probably hear a bunch of excuses: being sick, hospital, house fire (yes she apparently had a house fire when we called her and asked for a refund. What a coinicidence!) Just remember, she uses these excuses for everyone AND our work was supposed to be done WEEKS before any of these excuses. The current excuse we are on (house fire) happend 4 weeks AFTER we were supposed to receive our PRELIMINARY drawings. Please feel free to reach out to me for any more details if you are considering working with her. I am currently discussing with my attorney about getting my money back in small claims court.

DO NOT HIRE! We hired Blythe to do a simple drawing of what our house might look like with her redesign. She wanted to be paid upfront and said the drawings would be ready in 3 weeks. She promptly cashed the check. After 1 month we called because we did not hear from her. She said she had to attend to a family member who had been ill. After not hearing from her for 3 more weeks, she replied to an email that her fiance had a heart attack saying that she was getting back on track and would have the project done sometime the following week. After 3 months after hiring her, we requested our money be returned since it seemed she was not interested or not able to do the job. We never heard from her again and never received our money even after several attempts to have it returned. It is a shame because she had done great work in the past. Not once was Ms. Haynes proactive in contacting us and we never received our drawing or a refund. Take these recent 1-star reviews seriously!

Hired Blythe Haynes based on the Houzz reviews--what a mistake! My experience with Blythe Haynes from beginning to end was full of excuses and unfulfilled promises--calls not returned, an original survey retained despite repeated requests to have it returned, a low value design document that took 10 times longer to receive after full payment was made, and the list goes on and on. Ms. Haynes was clearly experiencing multiple personal problems during our business dealings and should have taken me up on my offer to refund my payment so I could pursue the services of another professional. Instead, she let things drag on with her rationalizations until finally no communications at all. And she still has my original survey. Highly unreliable and unresponsive.

We've had the pleasure of working with Blythe on 2 projects; our first project involved transforming a 1930's cape cod into a modern livable space. Blythe was point on with design, flow, and beauty; the end result was amazing! A job change meant we had to leave our much loved Cape Cod and begin again. Our current home did not need a complete renovation, but an outdoor living space, and a master bath renovation. Blythe traveled to our new home, met with us and discussed our wants, and needs. Within a short period we had a set of blue prints to make a gorgeous veranda, and the bath of our dreams. Blythe's attention to detail in order to make an addition and renovations blend seamlessly is her real strength! Friends and family were amazed at Blythe's vision, and the beautiful end result.

I have worked with Blythe on numerous renovations and new homes as a window and door supplier. Blythe is always responsive to questions and her plans are well thought out and work very well!

I recently purchased an old house that needed a myriad of upgrades to it. I contacted BSH Design to do interior and exterior drawings of the house. Blythe was very professional and met with me several times to walk through the house, take measurements and discuss various ideas to make better use of spaces. She brought over drawings and they were exactly what I was looking for with very few revisions needed. Blythe did a fabulous job and I really appreciate her thoughtfulness and hard work.

We hired BSH Design to draft a major renovation/addition to our house built in 1927. We were amazed at the vision Blythe had in her plans! Walls came down and at the end of the project we had a new, old home that looked like it was built like this originally. It is nearly impossible to tell we doubled the original footprint of the house. BSH Design is awesome!

I have used BSH Design for many of my residential remodeling clients and also for new custom homes that we have built. Blythe is extremely talented, creative, and will not stop until she feels that she has produced absolutely the finest plan possible. We are getting ready to showcase one of her designs that we built for the 2014 Spring Parade of Homes in Greensboro, NC. It is a fantastic house, and everyone loves the well thought out design!

As an independent structural engineer, I have reviewed work and drawings by BSH Design, giving input as to foundation, wall, connections, lintels, columns, and stability design. This included a site visit to ascertain the necessity of a large retaining wall before building.

I have referred many people to Blythe over the years and every one has resulted in a positive experience. Blythe has an attention to detail and is valuable in guiding the decision making process. There are numerous decisions which are sometimes complex with give and take or pros and cons throughout. Her most rewarding attribute is that she supports and guides you throughout the entire house building process until completion.

I worked with Blythe on plans to add a second floor to our house. She was so easy to work with! We had a great rapport. She was up to date on new technology in the market, and easily took my ideas and translated them onto paper. She was a delight to work with, and I would work with her again on any project.
