Daydream Projects

We hired Jenny and Tom to help us with a kitchen redesign…that somehow turned into a full home remodel. Jenny and Tom exceeded expectations every step of the way! When the process kicked off, Jenny came to our house, listened to everything we wanted, and came back with multiple drawings to accommodate our needs. She asked all the right questions to understand our wants, tastes, and preferences, resulting in minimal rework and thinking on our end. Once the architectural work was complete, Jenny helped us with all the interior designs…literally down to the handle on the bathroom mirror. This meant that everything was picked out before we even started the work and there was no last minute scrambling. Jenny is a true unicorn in her ability to handle both the technical architectural work AND the interior design. Once the plans were complete, Jenny and Tom helped us find contractors and supported us through the bid process to make sure we understood the numbers and were able to compare bids apples-to-apples. EVERY contractor we spoke with commented on how amazing the plans from Jenny were and how easy it made their jobs. Once the contractor was hired, Jenny and Tom stuck with us through the entire process, answering questions from the contractor and making sure the build was matching the plans. As someone who can barely hammer a nail, it was important for us to have Tom with us through the process to make sure everything was translated correctly. I could go on for days about what we loved about working with Jenny and Tom, but what we appreciated most was that Jenny always listened to our ideas and incorporated what we wanted, BUT she was also honest. If she didn’t like something she would tell us, and if we wanted her opinion, she always gave it. A perfect mix of bringing our vision to life, but making sure we didn’t do anything silly. In conclusion, working with Jenny and Tom was a delight, absolutely made our dream house a reality, and we cannot recommend them enough. Thanks guys!

This is a follow-up review, as I've now worked with Daydream Projects over the course of at least 5+ years to complete three different projects, including a primary bathroom remodel, home office update, and most recently, a large project to tear down a load-bearing wall, gut/relocate/expand our kitchen, remodel the laundry room and kids' bathroom, and build out a new pantry. I couldn't be happier with Daydream Projects' work and I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are so easy to work with, incredibly responsive, thoughtful, creative, practical, and have impeccable taste. They have helpd us at every step along the way- from securing permits to comparing contractor bids (not as easy as one might think) to the actual design and build of the project, including keep us on task, regularly checking in with our contractor, and thinking one step ahead so the project isn't stalled at any point. They ensure nothing slips through the cracks and think of every detail. We definitely hit the lottery when we found Daydream Projects and I would never work with anyone else for any project - big or small.

Jenny and Tom were a delight to work with. When we first engaged with Jenny, she listened actively to our needs, wants and design preferences. From her initial design plans to the final approved plans, she incorporated the pieces that were most important to us; such as a clean/contemporary design that also fit in with the original architecture of the house and one that would give us more functional space/storage without sacrificing a room. What we really appreciated was her pragmatic, collaborative approach and how she would give us her opinion if there was a proposal she didn't agree with. Jenny and Tom were also very instrumental in helping us to identify and solicit bids for a contractor and Tom created a transparent and easy to understand comparison of the idiosyncrasies of how GCs present their bids. During the renovation - if we had questions, they were both always very responsive and curious to see how the project was coming along. If there were design questions by the GC, they made themselves available to clarify and quickly resolve. As we neared the end, and needed to pick out specific details, it was very reassuring that Jenny had already thought of those and we had very little deviation from the original plans.

Daydream Projects are a necessary part of any major renovation. We would not have survived without Jenny's knowledge, attention to detail and expertise. We added on a bedroom, bathroom and family room all while living in our home with small children. Our sanity was saved because Daydream Projects was by our side during every step of the way. I can't say enough about what a crucial part of the project they were.

We thought about an entire house remodel for years and would never have been brave enough to embark on a project of this scale without Jenny. After living in the house for 6 years, we had a long list of improvements we wanted to make to our home, including creating an entryway, rec room, laundry room, and pantry, remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms, and generally adding beauty. Jenny took us step by step through the process and addressed our entire wish list in the architectural plans. Jenny has an excellent eye for design and exquisite taste, and she is committed to getting her clients a beautiful, functional end result. She worked well with our contractor, who was also outstanding. We completely trust Jenny and she has our highest recommendation.

The moment I met Jenny, I knew we had found someone special. Not only is she a skilled architect who understands the building and design of homes, but she is also an amazing designer who pays the utmost attention to detail and has great esthetic taste. Jenny worked with our ideas and made our addition flow seamlessly with the rest of the house. She made thoughtful decisions and took into consideration our family and how we would use the space. We had several people comment about the level of detail in her plans and how nice it was to work from something more than a “conceptual design”. She was easy to work with, always willing to give suggestions and ideas, and because of her training- she was able to stand behind her design. We are so happy with the results. Our addition may not have happened without Jenny’s expertise and we are so thankful to have found her.

My husband and I interviewed several architects before selecting Jenny to design our home addition and remodel. We had never done a major remodel before, but upon meeting her, we were immediately confident that we had found the right person to help us navigate the process. I can't say enough about Jenny's clean and tasteful aesthetic. While I am very interested in design and love decor, my own ideas were often unfocused. Jenny gently sifted through my many ideas and honed in on the ones that made the most sense for our space. She was an invaluable thought partner on everything from layout to lighting to paint colors. Jenny also genuinely understands the challenges that many young families face in home design: There is never enough storage. There are always backpacks and shoes to corral. How do we give each family member a space to call their own, while designing the heart of the home so that everyone wants to be together? Jenny discussed every challenge with us patiently, and consistently came back to us with solutions we never imagined were possible. Her professionalism and preparedness always impressed us. There is a sense of ease that comes when the major players in a project work seamlessly with one another. Jenny worked closely to coordinate design elements and details with our general contractor. Although they had never worked with one another before our project, they established a great working relationship and allowed us to feel confident that the plans would be executed as imagined. We recommend Jenny wholeheartedly, without reservation. She's a wonderful talent and a genuinely lovely person.

We have worked with Jenny for several years now as one of her vendors. We are often on-site towards the end of her projects, so we are able to see the (almost) finished product. Jenny never fails to amaze with her creativity and, especially, her attention to detail. She makes our job so much easier by her experience, and understanding of construction methods, and materials. Jenny's ideas are always well articulated, both in her speech, and her drawings. We have never come across a mistake, nor a poorly thought out concept. We recommend very few people, but have no reservations about giving Crookston Harrell design our highest endorsement.

Jenny transformed my galley kitchen into a gorgeous space for entertaining? She is great about listening and then providing options to develop the right plan. I really appreciated her attention to detail and staying on a good timeline. She has a good eye for design and helped me with my material selections. Jenny is very organized. Jenny is a dream to work with and I would (will!) hire her again in a heartbeat. She's friendly, professional and extremely talented, balancing the art and science of both architecture and interior design seamlessly. Her designs are both beautiful and practical, and she makes whole process (even the construction part) easier and better by anticipating, addressing and documenting details before they become issues - and change orders. With our project, Jenny translated everything we threw at her into a design plan that delivered on just about every need, want and "wouldn't it be nice...", staying true to our vision while being respectful of our budget. She truly LISTENS and asks clarifying questions (in non-technical language) so she can extract what she needs to understand what you're looking for. She offers options and opinions, inviting feedback and is refreshingly honest when we start to go in a direction that strays from our path. The decisions are ultimately ours, of course, but the trust we developed in Jenny typically results in our following her lead. I could not ask for more in a designer and cannot wait to start our next project with her.

Jenny is easy to work with and has outstanding vision for what a space can become. She also did an excellent job navigating the permit process for our project, which involved some back and forth with the city. She has stayed with the project past the planning stage and into the construction phase to ensure everything came out as expected.

We worked with Jenny on a master bed/bath addition and a family room remodel. She was great to work with - she immediately picked up on our style and what was important to us and integrated everything into a beautiful design.
