Designed an attached generous 2 car garage, with home office and deck above. Created design for new driveway and entrance to 1950s home, greatly enhancing the curb appeal while providing increased functional space for us. I would highly recommend this company.

Kitchen and bathroom remodel and replaced a deck. Found Doug Shaffer to be creative and sensitive to our specific design thoughts. He rapidly got a sense of what we wanted and was able to plan accordingly. When we wanted to go in a different direction from his initial ideas either respectfully made his case for why we should take his advice or accepted our choice. We got this sense from our first meeting with him and the choice to contract him was easy. We never regretted it. Had good sources for materials and contractors. Was very responsive to our requests for information. Worked well with other contractors on the project - general, cabinetmaker.

McHenry Shaffer recently completed the firm's fourth project for our family, and we continue to be thrilled with their work. We live in a historical home and the firm, Mark McHenry in particular, perfectly blended historical elements with clean, updated and functional design. The firm designed a detached two-car carriage house with living quarters, a family room, a front arbor restoration and most recently a backyard covered porch. We first used McHenry Shaffer in 2005, and we have employed them for every home improvement project since that time. They work fabulously with contractors and other professionals, and were single-handedly able to keep our projects on track when deadlines were tight.

We've worked with Doug and Mark on multiple projects – most recently a bath, but also a kitchen and a whole-house renovation – in two modest 1920s-era homes. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. In all cases, the projects comprised elements of vintage restoration as well as cutting-edge design, and one of the things we like most about these guys is their enthusiasm for all of it. They bring a wealth of creative expertise, yet are very accessible and down to earth.

Mark and Doug worked on a previous project at a prior residence. I loved their attitudes toward each project we've done. They are not only professional experts, but they have common sense about saving money and still creating a great design. They did all the design work on my new house (in 2006) in Fairway. It's so beautiful I could hardly believe it was the same thing I had seen in all the many drawings. Their creativity and insight into great materials made it a showcase home. They were prompt, and were very clear in their billing so it was easy for me to understand what I was paying for each time. I can't recommend anyone else - MSA is the best!

Mchenry Shaffer knocked it out of the park for my wife and I on our home in the country. The attention to detail was something our builder said you just do not get from other architects and said that he would be using them in the future again.
