As we put the finishing touches on our year long alteration/renovation, it is great to reflect back to the beginning of our project and the time we spent with Serge. I can honestly say I am so happy we chose Serge to design the addition and alteration to our circa 1890 farmhouse. He is a great listener with a keen eye who offers practical solutions. He was patient working through several design iterations as the project evolved, allowing us to be certain we were getting all the items on our wish list. Sometimes I actually thought he could read my mind as he would offer changes that perfectly aligned with our thinking. Serge's design for our home kept the original ascetic so well that most people don't realize we altered the home at all! The addition blends seamlessly into the original structure while offering many modern conveniences - which is exactly what we had wanted! If you are looking for a down to earth architect who will offer practical solutions, Serge is a fantastic option!

Serge collaborated closely with me and my contractor on the restoration of my house which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Serge designed a number of things in the house including an amazing fireplace and surround with a hidden bookcase and a stunning gourmet kitchen that respects the past while modernizing it. He also collaborated with me on the renovation of my basement and garage. What I like about Serge is that he understands historic restoration and was a true advisor to me on every detail.

Serge has a great aesthetic sense combined with solid practicality. He understood quickly what we were trying to accomplish and came up with a design that fit our budget and looks fantastic. His knowledge of construction techniques and the local building code saved hours of frustration. You would be hard-pressed to find a better architect in the Hudson Valley.

Serge transformed a dark, depressing, architecturally unremarkable house into a bright, soaring, inspiring home. On every dimension, Serge surpassed expectations. He made a daunting process fun and creative. He inspired confidence with his clear command of the technical aspects of his craft. He listened carefully and always went beyond what we literally said to provide the solutions we really meant to ask for. He solved problems with the right balance of inspired creativity and budget and engineering realities. He saw things we never could have imagined and made them happen -- on time and on budget. We are extremely grateful to this talented and cool guy.

Serge is an incredibly good listener. He is excellent at interpreting clients wishes and turning them into sensible projects. He is knowledgeable about styles, building codes, historical accuracy, but what sets him apart and above is his ability to listen and interpret. Again and again, Serge has gone beyond and above expectations, working closely and reassuringly with clients, designers, subcontractors and me, the contractor.

We are very pleased to have worked with Surge on an extensive kitchen and breakfast room addition. Serge was able to interpret our vision for this space and gave us two design possibilities which considered both our budget and the best utilization of space. He is easy to work with and had wonderful ideas which we ultimately incorporated into our final design. We would have no hesitation working with him again.

Serge Young helped us build the home of our dreams. People thought we were crazy when we bought a dilapidated farmhouse (the ceilings were literally caving in) with plans to renovate. But Serge shared our vision and helped us reinvent the home as a perfect blend of traditional farmhouse with the modern design elements we were looking for. Serge listened closely to our wants and concerns, and he made great suggestions. The plans we used for construction were basically the first design Serge gave us, with just a few moderations. The process was always smooth and always pleasant. I would recommend Serge Young without hesitation.

I have worked with Serge on a few projects and have found his plans to be extremely detail oriented, thorough and great to work with. He was very easy to work with when changes were necessary. He was very available to answer any questions that came up. He worked really well in a collaborative manner if i had any suggestions. Serge Young is a very professional, intelligent, and creative architect. He comes up with excellent design solutions to difficult problems. He's easy going, yet prompt, respectful and responsive. It doesn't hurt that he has supreme aesthetics, which isn't necessarily a component of all architects. I look forward to working with Serge again.
