Don Anthony's Designs

DonAnthony's extensive theatrical set design experience led him into becoming a theatrical agent promoting the talent of many celebrities. In 1971, he was offered a position with ICM (International Creative Management) to promote the talent of Jay Leno, Dolly Parton, Natalie Cole, Al Green, The O' Jays, Tina Turner, Pointer Sisters, Don Rickles, and others. In 1986, he left the entertainment field to concentrate on promoting his creative talent developed in his earlier years. DonAnthony is a self taught artist and visionary. In the late 1980s, he was recognized as a leader in the art of contemporary Grandfather clocks. His trademark, exclusive creations in Granite, Marble, Acrylics, Sculptured Steel, and Glass, separates his Designer Clocks from all others. For the past 28 years, Don has bridged Grandfather clocks into functional art. In 1988 his contemporary clocks were introduced in a presentation at Neiman Marcus. In the invitation, Neiman Marcus described Don's work as, "Sleek, modern, and truly fascinating for those who appreciate old world craftsmanship with the understanding of contemporary design." Don Anthony created 'Designer Clocks' over 28 years ago. His first Grandfather clocks featured see-through clock cases; being able to see the intricacies of the clock movements created a fascination not seen in production-built clocks. The see-through concept is also used in his Sculptured Steel Clocks. Many of his first clocks were displayed on marble and granite floors. This inspired Don to create the Marble and Granite Grandfather Clocks to become an extension of the floor. Much of his work is commissioned to coordinate with residential and commercial interiors. The traditional components, polished brass and chrome, are enhanced in their contemporary clock cases of Marble, Granite, Glass, Steel and Acrylic. The quality of the workmanship and the German built movements are recognized worldwide. DonAnthony is currently working to create new wood models designed to coordinate with the colors of hardwood floors. He also continues to work on a favorite project of his; a transparent lucite car on a tubular steel frame structure, created completely from scratch utilizing Chevrolet and Volkswagen parts. Designer Clocks are not available in retail stores. By appointment, they can be seen on display in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
