1st Craftsman Carpentry and Construction

Beware!! Would give him ZERO star if I could. I hired 1st Craftsman carpentry owned by Tom Ballard last July on 2015. Tom got my deposit and promised to do the fence in 10 days. Its has been 3 months now and no fence has been installed. He gives different excuses. One of the excuse was he told me that he got the materials from a local distributor but when I called them there was no order for materials made by him or his company. I demanded a refund but for weeks now but he won't return my money. He doesn't even have the courtesy to respond to calls and texts.

Tom Ballard, Owner of 1st Craftsman Carpentry and construction, was hired to build custom kitchen cabinets and install quartz countertops in February of 2015. The cabinets were to be all wood construction, custom sizes and to be completed and ready for install early April with a project completion date of April 27, 2015. Tom never provided said cabinets, but did purchase a set of Armstrong standard cabinets off of Craigslist and attempt to pass them off as his own work. In his acknowledgement of his contract breach, he provided us with a refund check for the thousands of dollars we had paid him. However, as of June 24, 2015 the check still has not had funds available. We have had to acquire a loan to purchase a second set of cabinets as Tom never provided to the cabinets, never provided the refund, and we have been without a functioning kitchen for over 3 months (despite verifying several times before demolition that he was ready to install completely cabinets). *The photo included is of our current kitchen, as of July 7, 3 months after the cabinets were scheduled to be installed.

I have been using 1st Craftsman for several projects around my house from a complete down to the studs bathroom remodel to new flooring in all the bedrooms. I love the results and the extra mile Tom and company go. They are the team I am continuing to use for the many projects I plan to have done this year.

Tom came to my house to discuss my ideas regarding a living room remodel. He took my vision and made it a reality. Tom and his crew are kind, conscientious, and went above and beyond my expectations. He even rescued my dog when he accidentally got out. I will be hiring Tom back for future work and will refer him to all my friends and family. Thanks, Tom, for everything. I was very pleased with the results. I've had many compliments on the craftsmanship of the work. Tom was also courtious and respected our timing issues. Finally, the quote for this job was the first quote I've ever gotten from a contractor that clearly stated how much the cost was for each component of the job. I would wholly recommend him to others.
