Darlene Abney is a 5 star performer in every way. We were fortunate enough to meet her some 9 years ago, when she designed a brand new gourmet kitchen in close harmony with us. Her design sense was excellent as was her ability to meet agreed cost targets. Over the years, we've also done a kitchen and a living room with her, and have been delighted every time. Our style is traditional. Darlene has exquisite taste and is at the same time extremely budget conscious. She is tireless at doing great style at best prices. Many of our friends have worked with Darlene as well. Styles run the gamut from traditional to modern. In fact Darlene just finished a spectacular, modern penthouse. Depending on the needs of the client, she'll act as designer, full general contractor, or anything in between. And finally, she's wonderful to work with -- great personality and on-time performance!

We have only the highest praise for Ms Abney; she is a professional who is easy to work with and sees that the project gets done correctly and in a timely fashion. In 2013, we bought a house in Sarasota and we were introduced to Ms Abney as a consultant/decorator through a mutual friend. She worked with us for many months and oversaw all the work done on our house and sourced much of the furnishings; she continues to do work for us. During most of this time we were in the New York City area and worked with her on a remote basis. We like to add our own touches to projects and not just accept all that is suggested. We like to mix our own ideas and use wall paper/paints/furniture that we find and like with the decorator's ideas. An example, we found a leopard skin designed wall paper that we thought would work well in one of the bathrooms; we shipped to Ms Abney and she made excellent use of it. In all our dealings with her, we found her to be one of the most professional decorators we have ever used. She had the rare ability to blend our ideas with hers; she also knew when to cut us off if the idea just wasn't going to work. She oversaw the work very well and prevented several bad outcomes and also was able to push the contractors along to make sure work was done correctly and on time.

After embracing your personal vision, she is a master at suggesting ideas that implement this with proper design standards and a very keen eye. Color, scale, proportion, style- she does it all, as well as sourcing the perfect items to fit your space. A fine example of a pro who deals extremely well with juggling a husband/wife team, providing very competent sub-contractors, overseeing their work with a fine eye for detail, and delivering an exceptional finished look. I would recommend her highly (and have to a number of my friends).

Darlene Abney designed my house 15 years ago. We were fortunate to have a large budget but had some specific needs. Since we move quite often the furnishings had to be able to rearrange beautifully in larger and smaller rooms and various settings. I'm a pretty fussy person when it comes to my home and was afraid to give control to someone else but hiring Darlene Abney to "do my house" was one of the best decisions I ever made. Now we are downsizing from 6000 square feet to 3000 square feet and plan on flying her here to do another miracle. I can honestly say I love what she did to my home every day I look around and it just makes me feel good. I wouldn't let anyone else do anything to it without first checking with her! Downsizing! Darlene consulted with my mom and helped her immensely in choosing exactly what she would need in her new living space. She helped with the number of pieces Mom could use and the arrangement, carefully measuring the entire studio space. She fit in more treasured "stuff" than I could possibly imagine and helped make the transition look seamless in this "Large to Small Transition!"

Darlene Abney is a consummate design professional. We have worked with Darlene for over 8 years from initial renovation including from kitchen and bathroom cabinetry to living room furniture and carpeting as well as accessories. Darlene led the design and implementation of our condo renovation. Some specifics over the years are: a built in console and TV cabinetry extending for over 12 feet in ourliving room. She designed, sourced and implemented a highly efficient cabinet grouping and closet along a 2nd bedroom wall to maximize the space. Currently, we are working bathroom and kitchen updating. She has also assisted in providing subcontractors that are reliable and knowledgeable. Darlene is creative and possesses great insight and understanding of her client's requirements and most importantly tastes and style.
