About Us

In the Kansas City suburb of Westwood, there is a shop that is a wonderful treat for anyone who loves fine pieces for their home. Interior Designer Steve Nuss located his office and shop close to the historic Country Club Plaza, a newly revitalized Downtown, and near the more established suburbs of the city. The space has a humble history, but it is a surprise for those familiar with the area as well as for newcomers. The shop has a mix of new and antique furniture and accessories, reflecting the varied loves of the designer and his exquisite taste. For anyone working on developing the design of their home, this is a must in the process. Steve works with clients in new construction, remodeling or updating, or just giving the space a fresh feel. Steve Nuss has been designing beautiful interiors for clients' homes and businesses since 1984. "My ultimate goal is to bring my clients' dreams to reality. I don't lead them down a path to my style, but I focus on them, interpreting what they want. I expose them to new and exciting possibilities in fabric, furniture, fashion and design that we weave into their concept creating a home beyond their expectations."

I hired Steve to help refresh my kitchen after several of my own hit and misses with decor. One year later, my kitchen still looks great and I want him to do my whole house! He's traditional but not at all stuffy. We both love color but he gets it right! I most appreciated his attention to detail and follow through, like updating the lighting and suggesting art and other accents for a complete look. He also hires excellent, honest and fast workers (painters, electricians, etc). He respected my limited budget as well.

We have worked with Steve Nuss on several design projects at our former home. We recently purchased a new home in need of a major remodel. Steve led the effort by recommending the contractor and the necessary tradesmen to remodel it from top to bottom. Steve designed the new kitchen, four bathrooms, colors and fabrics. He reworked and freshened many pieces from our former home. We love the end result and he had the vision to keep the project on track for an AMAZING TRANSFORMATION!

Steve recently helped clients of mine. He took a recently remodeled property and gave it the warmth of a home that reflects the clients' personalities and taste. His use of color, texture and furniture placement enriched the space in ways that were really needed. With today's design trends - one challenge is to incorporate beloved items (antiques, ceramics, rugs, etc.) without the home looking old fashioned or provincial. Steve has a special gift for this challenge and more!

He is the ultimate professional and is so easy to work with. The budget for the projects that Steve did ranged from $25,000 to over $100,000.

Steve Nuss has done a number of projects for me, ranging from a full remodel of our 100 year old home to updating of two bathrooms. He is a pleasure to work with: candid and direct but always respectful. He understands working within a budget and is exceptionally thorough and conscientious in his communication. No surprises. The craftsmen he works with do impeccable work, and he also has worked well in coordinating projects with me when I had other workmen involved As for his eye for design, he's a true artist. The remodel he completed in our first floor living areas remains timely and elegant. No new guests to our home ever enter without raving about its loveliness. I recommend him unconditionally.

I have worked with Steve Nuss for many years and I can attest to the fact that he will go out of his way to make sure that his customers are happy with the final product they receive.
