Ryan Siebert Landscaping over promises and under delivers. He is slow with no attention to detail and Ryan fails to provide proper oversight or to check his work. His crew is hardworking but Ryan lacks the skill to manage his crew toward a quality end product. You will need to check his work daily to make sure it is right. He would be fine for throwing mulch or planting trees but technical work, buyer beware.
Ryan did a paver patio and paver pool deck with retaining wall for us. We hired him to do the work April 6th with an estimated start date set for the last week of May, first week of June. He finally started work at our home on July 11th. He stated the job should take 2-2 ½ weeks to complete. He stopped working and we parted ways on week 7. When we hired him he stated he had a crew of 5-6. For the first month he had a crew of 2 or 3. He did end up with a full crew the last few weeks of work. His crew was actually only in my backyard between 3-5 hours most day, starting late, taking an hour lunch offsite and leaving by 3:30p most days they showed up. He is a landscaper who doesn’t work when it is raining, the next day after rain (too muddy) and also took off a few days because it was too hot.
He had to rebuild the retaining wall 3 times because, in his words, he ‘missed his mark’. The circular wall went up and down by as much as 4 inches leading to areas of the walkway that would have had the pitch of a wheelchair ramp. He misfit the cap stones on the retaining wall and had to chisel them off and re-glue them 3 times. He installed the coping around the pool 5 times having to chisel it off and re-glue it as well. The final time was still not done correctly. None of the above issues were discovered or pointed out by him. I had to find every defect and point it out to him. After being shown each issue, he conceded that it was not right each time. If I had not checked his work and ask him about it, he would have happily given me the poor craftsmanship.
Because he and his crew yelled at me, calling me a liar and a cheat and accused me of ‘tearing up his work’ on the last day he worked for me, I’m sure Ryan will respond to this review. So I will speak about payment. Initially, he sent me a bid and I offered to give him the down payment to get started. We made some changes to the initial design and contract so he said he would get started and we could do the contract later. Once he began and I saw his craftsmanship and ethics, my trust in him eroded quickly. He then asked for a signed contract and I refused. I told him I would pay him, but that I didn’t trust him to finish. He continued to work and after the major flaws started showing up, I brought up issues concerning the extended weeks the work was taking and the poor craftsmanship, this lead to our first heated discussion, I gave him $10,000. He then continued work and repeatedly failed to do good work. On the last day he worked, I informed him I would not pay him the full amount remaining because I did not want his 1 year warranty. I told him was going to hire someone else to fix the mistakes he had repeatedly made because he had proven himself to be incapable of quality work. This lead to yet another heated discussion, in the end he mostly finished the pavers and left with a final check only 15% less than the original agreed on price. I now have to hire someone to reset the pool coping (for the 6th time), fix some minor issues with the pavers and to finish the grading of my property and re-establish my yard. That expense will most likely exceed the amount I retained.
Ryan does poor work and then wants to blame the customer for the extra time, work and expense. With all the other landscapers available, consider hiring someone else.

We contracted with Ryan Siebert Landscaping for an extensive landscape project. We live in an area of Indiana that is mostly deep ravines, heavily forested, and we have limited access. Detailed drawings showing a huge amount of stone work for some features such as retaining walls, fire pit, two disappearing water fountains; which one (in the middle of the project, was changed to include a wonderful waterfall). In addition, Ryan's design required the removal of a cement terrace and replaced with pavers that curved around the back of our home creating a walkway that blended directly into a large stone patio. Our fire ring and one of the fountains was included on this level. My Zen Garden was created to run along the side of patio. To make a true Zen Garden is very hard to do, as all of us found out. Finding true aspects needed for this garden, were hard to find, but, Ryan found everything needed. And it is exactly what I wanted. A second level was created for the larger fountin, waterfall, dry stream bed. Ryan used huge stone steps leading to a cedar bridge over the dry stream bed. Crossing the bridge lead to a limestone pathway spliting two ways, one way leading you down a fully landscaped hill, which was a dangerous area to be avoided prior to Siebert's work. Turn the other way to a custom Moon Gate, that is now the gateway into a lovely moss garden. You can continue around to a specifically designed Zen Garden. A small Coy pond was installed. They installed approximte a 30 foot dry stream bed with a trellis system for pre-planted blackberries leading to large steps up to a cedar arbor with colored glass panels, to match the large contempoary gazebo by the Zen garden, and over looks the patio.
They also remolded the entire front entry area to our home.
Ryan and his crew were very easy to work with, and polite. He has one objective, customer satisfaction. All their work materials and plants were of superior qulity.
Initial price estimate did not vary, and our job was done in a timely manner. And our entire project was right on I.
As a matter of fact we will be hiring him again.
One last thing. Ryan is very picky and his attention to detail. Many times you could see him walking away from something they just completed, and he looks at the item to check how it looks from every view point.

Ryan and his crew are absolutely first rate.
Ryan designed a beautiful landscape plan including a stone patio with fountain and walkways. Ryan listened carefully to what our wants were and reworked the design accordingly. And, since we live in a neighborhood that requires approval of any outside work that is done, he helped supply the details that were needed for the design committee.
His team was efficient, professional and courteous. They were very mindful to ensure that our dog did not get loose from the backyard (they made sure that they closed the gate when they left -- a major plus in our eyes!). They were very neat, making sure that they cleaned up the site before they left for the day.
We recommend Ryan very highly.

I want to take this moment to give a very high rating for Mr. Ryan Siebert. I have observed in him a good work ethic and an enthusiasm which insures that the job be completed on time. Mr. Seibert did
Exactly what I asked for and with his training did it right so that my brick walkway would have a
lasting endurance. Mr. Siebert discussed with me and my wife our desires and he came up with some very good solutions. Mr. Siebert dug out the walkway, laid down a weed preventer carpet, put in 53’s and tamped them down on every 2” layer, then he put down a layer of regular sand and leveled it to receive the brick pavers, finally he put down the pavers in a herring bone design and put down polymer sand and vibrated in down on the pavers to fill in the cracks so they would not move at all. He explained to me what polymer sand is and does and explained to me every step of the way what he was doing. His pricing was not only reasonable, but he suggested that we could use our own pavers to save us some money. I highly recommend Siebert Landscaping in Martinsville to anyone who wants a job done correctly, on time, and with your interest in mind.

Spring of 2016 was very wet which delayed not only his project, and several projects before and after; consequently, pushing all my jobs back, and for that I repeatedly apologized. Mitchel's pool was in the back yard at the bottom of a steep hill. Any amount of rain made using equipment to move over 100 TONS of stone very challenging and dangerous in wet and muddy conditions. Trying to make up for the rain delays, we continued to work using wheelbarrows to haul stone and block down the slippery hill until it could dry up. Summer of 2016 was also very HOT with temps in the high 90's and heat index reaching up to 115, for several weeks, I had one employee, myself included, suffer from heat exhaustion and yes that is why we left for lunch to find cold water and air conditioning. My foreman and one crew member both had deaths in the family during this project which I gave time needed to be with their families. We continued to work with a small crew given the situation.
When building a wall, we start at the lowest point and build up, in this project the lowest point was the back of the pool. We built a circular wall around the pool, which put the last block placed our "key stone" in front. Mr. Mitchel did not like the look of this "key stone" and said he "did not want to have to stare at it for the next 20 years" So even without a signed contract and full deposit, we tore down the wall to rotate all the blocks to a position he liked better. Given the height of the wall I recommended an engineered block with a pin system. Because of the pins and a circular pool, we had to make cuts to the blocks and the caps to accommodate the circumference of the pool. So yes we had to redo and chisel glue off of caps when the request was made to rotate a wall and caps.
Every issue Sk Mitchel had and brought to my attention, we corrected despite the time it added on to the project. Sk Mitchel looked me in the eyes and shook my hand and agreed to pay me when we finished the project. On the morning of last day he pulled me aside and refused to pay the final $15,000 he owed to us. We continually made any changes that he requested throughout the 7 weeks we were on the job, without complaint. Every effort was made to accommodate any and all requests that said customer wanted, again without a signed contract. The last day, we finished laying the pavers, graded out his driveway, backfilled behind the wall, harley raked his wet lawn, cleaned up and left with a check minus his promised amount and no warrantee. In addition, I left extra block and poly sand for SK. Mitchel upon his request. You be the judge. Please see the attached project photos to see for yourself the quality of work and attention to details we provided despite the conditions Sk Mitchel placed upon us.
