Our project went quite smoothly, staying on schedule thanks to the fact that my office is in the house and Scott's commitment to providing a foreman. This enabled us to make decisions quickly and address problems promptly. Scott and his crew showed a lot of creativity in meeting our requirement to stay in the house during the renovation, to the extent of setting up a temporary kitchen and shower in the basement. In the end, we only had to be out of the house for about a week. He was also very good about coordinating with our architect and the cabinetmaker that we selected ourselves. Having heard a few horror stories of renovation cost overruns, I think we also did well in this respect. Our final figure was about 10% more than the initial estimate due to the kind of unforeseen issues that can be expected on any such project, along with a few changes that we ordered. The level of detail Scott provides in his constantly updated spreadsheet also helped us to make some decisions that reduced our cost.”

“We met Umberto back in 2006 when we started to plan our remodeling project. He had been recommended to us by one of our neighbors. He took the time, week after week, to sit down with us and listen to our ideas and “needs”, trying to combine pre-existing structures, practical aspects and a new modern design. When he presented us with his first drafts, he already had several variations in mind, giving us the chance to explore various options. He was always open to suggestions and special requests. During the permit process, he collaborated closely with our land surveyor and structural engineer and represented us during hearings in front of the zoning board and building department. Umberto really facilitated the whole project, always keeping track of the necessary steps and communicating the progress. Unfortunately, it turned out that remodeling was far more expensive than we had thought, and despite “value engineering”, a complete new construction would be cheaper and more energy efficient. Aware of our concepts and “special needs”, Umberto was able to come up with a completely different plan for a brand new construction in record time. Limited to the pre-existing foot print, we had to make some concessions, but Umberto talked us through the options and made adjustments along the way. “Our” house could not have been built without Umberto’s diligent work ethic, his aptitude to listen and incorporate ideas and concepts into solid architectural designs, his communication skills and his flexibility to allow for last minute changes. Thank you Umberto for all your help. We couldn’t have done it without you!”

“Dave is an excellent craftsmen, and intelligent builder. He returns calls on time, texts daily, and his pricing and work contract are very transparent We originally needed a window replaced, but the project morphed into a much larger project because of carpenter ants. He ended up having to replace all the shingling on one side of our house. Dave was very honest and clear on how the project escalated, what new costs were and gave us different options for budget and solutions. He encouraged us to go with a bit higher quality in materials, and we are really thankful we did the job right. It was late January and he and his fellow builder showed up in 10 degree weather for a week. His coworker was a pleasure to chat with every day, With 3 children at home, it’s important to feel comfortable with workers and I fully trust Dave and his Team. He always was meticulous with clean up. My one suggestion would be to understand his payment plan. We gave him a down payment and then wrote fairly substantial checks weekly. I felt like I was not always prepared with money in the bank to cover that week’s installments. I would prefer one deposit down and final payment at end but this was our only issue. His knowledge and expertise were worth it,! We were very pleased with the end result and quality of work and highly recommend him!”
