About Us

The architectural practice of Daniel Archer has ranged from one to six employees, who maintained an office in San Francisco until the 1989 earthquake, when his damaged building forced him to move. His work has historically been residential in nature, from single-family alterations to an $8.1 million 256 unit HUD elderly housing and residential care project. His ventures into performing arts [Marin Theatre Company], a winery and commercial, retail and other nonresidential projects—all in the Northern California area—provide him with a broad and diverse architectural base. Currently, Mr. Archer maintains a small architectural studio in Mill Valley. He additionally consults with other architectural and interior design firms. Strong skills include historical design expertise, feasibility studies, construction estimating, substantial ‘hands-on’ computer skills [including 3-D modeling], design development, code analysis, contract documents, specifications, project administration and management plus construction law. He continues to develop and specialize in American vernacular architecture—traditional architectural design that developed from 1870 to 1940--and is additionally fond of the Early English Tudor Period.
