de sola.barnes architects is a forward thinking architecture firm, located in Big Sur, CA, specializing in residential, commercial and institutional projects. Both partners have 15 years of experience working in New York City and the Monterey Peninsula. We share a vision of responsible design; a process that considers the life-cycle of the structure or space, practices financial and resource consciousness and responds to climatic and environmental conditions, ie. high fire zones. We seek a symbiotic relationship between the structure and the site. Our firm provides hands-on Principal involvement from start to finish. We begin each project with a careful investigation of the site as well as the client’s needs and goals. We collaborate and consult with a trusted team of professionals at the onset of a project to ensure an integrated and efficient design. Our goal with each project, regardless of scale or cost, is to effectively translate our clients needs into more than just habitable spaces, but also places that delight and inspire. In our 13 plus years on the peninsula we have come to call Big Sur our home. We are energized by its beauty and community, and are committed to providing a high standard of design and environmental stewardship.
