I've gone through the gamut of hiring people ranging from craigslist workers to professional tier laborers and what Joe Mikhaylov offers is leagues above any other services out there. This is my second review as he's now my go-to contractor for all types of work. First off Joe is responsive. He picks up the phone and shows up when he says he will. I've had countless scheduling issues with other contracting companies, but not with Joe. Second off he can tackle many different jobs. I've had him help with hard wood floor refinishing, tiling, painting, garage doors, window installation, sheet rocking and the list goes on. Third off you get what you ask for. I often times can be stumped by design choices so he provides a comfortable atmosphere with no pressure when it comes to deciding what you want to do. This is one complaint I have about other contractors. They want to hustle and finish the job without the attention to what the customer wants. If you don't know what you want, Joe has enough experience to make suggestions you'll be happy with. Fourth off things get done correctly. I can't stress this enough. Joe follows the protocol and doesn't half do a job. He studies the craft of renovation and can tackle any job five different ways, all done correctly. Joe has rescued my jobsites on many occasions and generally comes in fair on pricing. When it comes to costs Joe is aware of what is fair. You also have to consider that since he doesn't slouch on work the pricing will entail quality work. So if you've been bid low before and got a botched job, well you might want to consider what you were paying for with that contractor. Joe puts the effort in and the costs reflect that. In conclusion NW Development Contracting is a full stop do-it-all service for me. I think you're making a mistake by chancing it on any other contractor. Before you accept a bid from anyone else, call Joe and get him to look at what you want to do first. Even if you don't accept his bid, his insight on what you want to accomplish is something he's willing to give. That says a lot. Hope this review helps you make the right choice because I've wasted lots of time and money on other contractors. Wish I would have found his services earlier.”

“First off I want to say that Joe Mikhaylov is a hard working man, which is an understatement. Before I get into the crux of this review I'd like to go into my timeline from start to finish with Joe. My aim is to give you a perspective on his professionalism. We have an old home that needed serious work. The breadth of the work needed was, new flooring, complete bathroom over hauls, kitchen tiling, electrical work, base board installation, carpet installation, door and trim installation, soft demolition, sheetrocking, mudding and general debris hauling. Joe reached out to us and a few days later he was at our home giving us an estimate on all the work listed above within a week of contact. We've had contractors come out and give bids before, but the tone is rather bleak. With Joe he came in with a combination of energetic and a determined demeanor, spotting things even we didn't notice that we're wrong with the house. One moment that comes to mind is when we spotted a piece of siding that was unhinged from the house. Joe whipped out a ladder and climbed on our roof to take a closer look. This in itself is a gesture that shows his intrigue with the profession he chose. This in tandem with his calm demeanor and keen observations pretty much sealed the deal. My mom and I both knew he'd do the job correctly and this wasn't a rug-pull. Over the next few days we e-mailed back and forth and the entire renovation project bid came in super reasonable. Work started promptly in February and him and his team were very dedicated to the project. I've been jacked around by plenty of contractors and handymen. That's not Joe. That's not his team. Joe showed up on time, everyday and even I couldn't keep up the pace of his ardent scheduling to finish the work on my home. Even with the February snow storm of 2021 he managed to put in hours until it was unsafe to drive. At this point I should mention that his team members Aaron and Kyle were also very genuine and easy to work/communicate with. I recall a conversation I had with Joe about how in his profession It is very difficult to find workers who put effort into their work. His staff members work just as hard as Joe. During the renovation process Joe and I communicated close to daily. He was sure to ask questions first before acting. You will notice that if you ask Joe about how he will address a certain task, he goes off in an almost meditative state where he'll take you through his thought process. He will make sure you see the project verbally in your head before he actualizes it. If you're still searching for a contractor, I put my top dollar on Joe Mikhaylov, Aaron and Kyle- full stop. Period. In my honest opinion you're wasting your time and money on hiring any other contractors in the Portland area. The patience and work ethic that they provide is unrivaled. You will be satisfied and like me- will tell your friends about him. Thank you Joe, Aaron and Kyle for your hard work and dedication on my home.”

“Best job I’ve had done, tiles were coming off my roof and with the rainy season coming- i needed a contractor as soon as possible. John’s response was quick, friendly, and honest. He addressed my concerns and made sure i knew what the whole process looked like before starting the job. He also cleaned up so there wasn’t any debris left behind. “SFW Construction did a wonderful job installing french doors, finish carpentry (trim, etc). and a new roof. The team took time to place drop cloths in areas where debris would fall and kept the work area clean and tidy. They were also great around my kids and dog, I had a great experience and will hire them next time I need another big project done.”
