John and his team do a great job, they are very thorough and make sure the work done is in our best interest and "matches" what's already in our home. He has gone to great lengths to seek out products or finishes that match perfectly or has been able to recreate unique items to fill a void. John is very patient and willing to listen to whatever wild ideas we have, and then let us know how those can be accomplished. His team is very polite and can always get the job done and answer any questions that may arise throughout a project. We currently have a long, ongoing project and have been very pleased with the continuous work and effort put forth by John and the Build A Home team and look forward to continuing a successful working relationship.

John is a very honest contractor. If things went wrong, he was honest about them and attempted to make them right.

From the start of our project, John Firmin was extremely knowledgeable and professional. It is clear he has a lot of experience in all aspects of the work. He was open and honest in all respects, and gave us many excellent suggestions which have worked really well. As an example, we had an architect, but there was no real plan for how our carport would be built. I explained to John what I invisioned. He worked out a really lovely solution, and as a result, the carport is awesome. We did not always agree, and John was easy to work with - he explained his concerns, listened to our ideas, and gave input on that. He always said it was our decision and worked to carry out the final conclusion. We love our new home, and had a great experience in building it.

John Firmin of Build A Home amiably expresses a sincere desire to meet the needs of his clients. He demonstrates competence with selective demolition and painstaking salvage. Some of his sub-contractors were not as experienced with the selective, light touch, so it is helpful to have John's eyes or the owner's eyes on the job at regular intervals. John and his firm will follow up on concerns or requests, pay attention to detail, describe potential cost-saving measures, respect existing materials and construction techniques, and have an eye for vintage elegance and appropriately unique detailing.

Build A Home built a lovely addition to our house. The project includes a jack-and-jill bathroom featuring separate vanity areas and a shared shower and toilet area, as well as the expansion of closet and dressing space for two adjacent bedrooms. The work features custom cabinets and drawers, and also vintage details like pocket doors and refurbished closet doors with glass doorknobs. The team was professional, knowledgeable and highly responsive.
