Cottage Advisors built our new custom home in Maine and we could not be happier. We unexpectedly bought a house near the ocean in July and wanted to have that house torn down and a new one built and ready for us to use the next summer. Cottage Advisors promised they could do that -- and they delivered. Throughout the project, they added value with suggestions to the architect and us, especially about exterior materials, windows and doors to be low maintenance for a house near the ocean - and how to well insulate the house. The result is a house that is gorgeous and tight. We thought we would use the house in the summer - but have used it year round. Building a custom house requires hundreds of decisions. There is not one we regret - thanks to the advice, skill and professionalism of Cottage Advisors.

Houses built by Cottage Advisors look beautiful on the surface. But once you move in, you start to see the flaws and the lack of attention to details. Hardwood flooring and tile are installed after the baseboard, so there are spaces between the two and the grout is cracking along the baseboard. Spaces are opening up between all finished trim boards inside and outside of the home. The home I am in and my neighbors have water run off flooding our backyards and basements due to poor grading. Most houses in the neighborhood of 34 homes have had multiple issues after moving in. Homeowners have had issues with foundation leaks, plumbing, tiling, septic lines, decking not built to code, hardwood flooring boards raising up. I could go on. These are expensive homes with buyers paying top price for any upgrades and upgrades are unavoidable if you want quality tile and fixtures. Having lived in 4 other newly built homes, I am confident in my ability to distinguish these failures as the product of poor craftsmanship and the desire to rush a job for the sake of profits, as opposed to normal wear and tear on a house that is less than two years old. The developer only allows minimal access to the property during the construction phase, such as to discuss electrical fixture placement. This makes it difficult to monitor the work as it is being done if you are purchasing one of his homes prior to breaking ground. If you're looking for high quality workmanship beyond the surface, you may want to look elsewhere.

From start to finish, our experience with Cottage Advisors has been very positive. The design team stepped us through all the decisions in an efficient manor; the quality of construction and attention to detail is outstanding. We are working out some punch-list kinks, which are largely due to delivery issues because of Covid, etc, but they are on their way to being resolved. Great people and organization from top to bottom; we are so happy in our new home!

World class builders... World class people... Fit and finish exceeded expectations... All subcontractors were polite, responsive and worked clean addressing punch list items... I would recommend Cottage Advisors and their broker Vincent Forzese!!!

Our new cottage is wonderful. Builders were professional and very helpful through the building process. They were also diligent on finishing our punch list items. Our budgets were met, our completion ran a little behind. Overall, a great Xperia new.

Pleasant people to deal with professional project manager and sub contractors. over all very satisfied with the condo. They were very responsive to resolving a heating issue on the lower level at no additional cost to us. Since this was our first experience in new construction, in retrospect, we would have changed a few internal designs like moving the guest bathroom door to the opposite wall and adding an outlet at the bottom of lower level stairs, but we did not know to ask what we did not know. Our realtor could have helped with this as well. all of the punch list items were addressed in timely manner.

Kathy and Chip were fabulous to work with. They made us feel so at ease from start to finish and were always available to answer any questions we had. We had to purchase our lot and make some big decisions sight unseen while still living on the west coast which was unnerving. Both Chip and Kathy were patient and guided us through the whole process. The house closed on the exact date we originally signed the P&S for 8 months earlier which is all but unheard of. Kathy has exquisite taste and really helped us choose the right finishes based on my limited suggestions. The whole house came together beautifully. So many compliments on all the lights, cabinets, etc. Chip kept us in the loop when anything wasn't going as planned and the finished product is amazing. Our friends have commented on how well built the house is. We couldn't be happier in our new home.
