Margo is an excellent and diligent designer. She spent a lot of time and effort with us to understand our aesthetic, and then helped us do a very high quality remodel. She brings a good eye, attention to detail, and a healthy respect for a budget to the table. In addition she also managed our contractors, thereby removing a considerable load from us. In addition, she has lots of good recommendations for contractors of various kinds which really helped us during the process. We liked her so much we used her for a second, and much more extensive, remodel of another house. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I have nothing but good things to say about Margo. It was the best decisions I ever made on my remodel . . . and possibly in my life! Margo is an excellent designer. We live in a San Francisco Victorian with some old detail that we wanted to maintain. Margo has helped us with everything: bathrooms, kitchen, paint, mouldings and trims, lighting, and doors and windows. She's done a great job bringing in some contemporary elements to our older space, and keeping the great character of the house. She's done a great job helping us select colors, tile, fixtures, cabinets, and everything else. Her process makes a lot of sense for us. We do a lot of corresponding on emails, Pinterest, and by phone. She also comes out to the project a lot (when there's no pandemic) to make sure things are being done properly. She's extremely organized and communicative, keeping all sorts of charts and spreadsheets to monitor the project and keep everything straight. Margo seems to know a lot about everything related to a remodel and interior design. She's helped out on things I never even thought about before the remodel, like the best functional layout for a bathroom, the flow of the house, and precise placement of light switches and light fixtures. She knows where to go for everything, whether online or locally. She's never heavy handed or a know-it-all. Instead she is very thoughtful and explains her thought process on her recommendations. She's also willing to listen and doesn't get offended if we don't like the things she's picked. She also has been totally willing to work within our budget. We're always glad to follow her advice. We're most of the way through the project, and we can tell already that all of her knowledge has paid off. We haven't bought things from crazy expensive places like you might think a designer might steer you to. A lot of it has been from Home Depot and Wayfair, and honestly it's good quality stuff. (She does know the expensive places too if you have the budget for that.) A whole-house remodel is one of the most stressful things you can put yourself through. There are tons of people to deal with and talk to, and on our ultra complicated San Francisco project I've had to work with them all -- architects, engineers, contractors, city planning, appliance dealers, and all sorts of subcontractors. Margo outshines them all. In an industry where it seems like people are always withholding information or not giving you the whole picture, Margo is extremely patient, considerate, and always seems to have time to talk about the project or respond to a ridiculously long email about doorknobs or paint. She also works well with all of the other players, like contractors and architects, sending clear emails or getting on the phone with them to make sure they're doing things right. Margo goes above and beyond what you'd ask of a designer. We initially hired her through a third-party referral service that acted as a middleperson for payment and purchases. When that service went under, Margo immediately communicated with us that she would not abandon our project and would see our project through to completion. This was a great relief to us, because she could have easily walked away because our actual agreement was with that company, not with her. And she's continued to maintain that professionalism. Our project is on hold right now during shelter-in-place. But she's continuing to help us via phone calls and email as we plan what to do next, even though most of the home construction and remodeling business is at a standstill. It's always reassuring to talk to her and know she's continuing to help. Margo is also just a great person. After working with her for a few years now, we've gotten to know her. She's caring and kind. She's the kind of person who wants to make the world more beautiful and is able to do that through her work. We've recommended her to several friends. And if you're reading this review -- you should absolutely reach out to her and hire her.

We worked with Margo on a bathroom redesign, due to circumstances outside of her control we were not able to see the project completed, but while we did communicate she was wonderful. Not only was she incredibly responsive, she was always willing to use her years of experience to help guide us and make the right decisions based on our current and future needs. Once we honed in on a general idea she sent over the concept and followed up with samples of all the material before any purchases were made. This made understanding how the concept would translate once we had real materials to work with. Overall she was super great to work with and would recommend!

This is a long overdue recommendation for Margo. I worked with Margo a while ago on a project to redo our living room after our remodel. She created a basic plan first based on what I was looking for and then was extremely helpful in helping me fill in the details. She helped me source a couple of key items and I really liked how she worked with my budget and aesthetic but showed me options that were new to me and fresh and helped our room really come together.

Margo is extraordinarily talented. A true master of her art, and steeped in knowledge of design. I hired her for a small project and ended up utilizing her services to help me design and source furniture and accessories (and choose paint colors) for my entire home. She is delightful to collaborate with...she makes it easy, really tunes into the client's specific preferences and vision and then expands the possibilities with her own ideas and visions! She helped me work with what I had and embellish with all the right additions, and all within my budget. I could not be more satisfied with our work together and highly recommend Margo Nathanson.

Margo is a very talented interior designer. She helps me and my family to decorate our minimalist modern home in Los Altos. Our home went from cold white box to a place of love and warmth. She is creative. Always push us to think outside of the box and out of our comfort zone a bit. She makes great suggestions for different colors and materials that we wouldn't have thought of. She was also conscious of our budget and helps us to save money wherever we could. The end result is stunning and we love living in our new home very much. Communication with Margo is very smooth. She is always responsive and is always willing to help to offer candid and constructive opinion. She was a true partner in crime every step of the way, and we truly enjoy the design experience with her.
