Sarah Scales is the head designer and creative director behind the multidisciplinary firm Sarah Scales Design Studio. Sarah studied Studio Arts and Mathematics at Fairfield University, an unusual combination that serves her well in her interior design and architecture career. Sarah later pursued graduate-level studies in Interior Architecture at The Boston Architectural College.
Sarah honed her design skills working at several commercial and residential design firms, where she developed a strong background in interior architecture and decorating. Working with prestigious Boston design firm Elkus-Manfredi Architects, Sarah designed commercial spaces including lobbies, hotels, offices and restaurants. The firm’s thoughtful, professional approach to interior architecture continued to shape Sarah’s design process as she launched the Sarah Scales Design Studio in 2012.
Sarah’s unique blend of design expertise and decorating eye continue to benefit her clients. Beginning with smaller decorating and design projects as her studio launched, Sarah’s business has grown to encompass interior architecture for new builds, renovations, and large-scale additions. From a kitchen makeover to a historical, full-home renovation, her projects demand a strong eye for detail and run the gamut from big-picture interior architecture and space planning, to decorating details like window treatments, wall colors, and furnishings.
