I worked with David Schneider and Pure Home Design on a basement remodel. After beginning to think about trying to manage the project ourselves, we realized we needed someone with more experience. David was wonderful to work with! He walked through the existing space and listened to our needs and wants with regards to the project. His expertise saved us time and money by recognizing limitations with one idea we were particularly fond of. David creatively addressed the issue while still keep our end goal in mind. He also helped us better understand the process of the renovation. Pure Home Design developed our construction plan as well as lighting design. The thing I most appreciate about David is his ability to listen to what we want and help translate that into design that is uniquely us. Working with a designer can feel intimidating or overwhelming. David’s warm, open approach made the process not only easier but enjoyable. David worked within our budget and helped us maximize the value of that budget. He understood some of our family’s idiosyncrasies and his flexibility with how we approached my project was key to our partnership. David helped make not only design choices, but decorating choices that we wouldn’t necessarily have thought of and we love them. David was in regular communication throughout the project and followed up on any outstanding issues we may have had. Now having lived in the project for 2 months, I am very confident in saying that working with Pure Home Design was a key factor in the success of our reno and our current enjoyment of the space.

Pure Home Design literally cured my Dry Eye Disease with their knowledge! Furthermore, I am one of the only patients to "graduate" from my specialist's practice and not have to end up permanently on Restasis or similar and it is ALL David's knowledge that got me there! I had had Dry Eye Disease ( currently an "uncurable multifactorial" disease) for several years when I first began to work with David and PURE home design. After a trip away from home, I began to suspect that it was my wool carpet (which I thought was natural and was not at all!) that was triggering this issue. David helped me figure out how to test for VOC's in my home (which I wanted to do), and more importantly which wool carpet and pad I could replace my existing product with that was actually fully natural and untreated with formaldehyde and insect repellent ( permethrin). I myself have a background in design but was totally unfamiliar with the products and procedures David told me about. They completely changed my life! They really did! 1 month after I replaced my carpet, I went into the lab to get my cortisol tested (it had been high for years and nothing brought it down that I had tried). It had gone down 4 points to the middle of the normal range! It stayed that way now for 2 years. Additionally, within weeks my eyes began to feel better. When I went for a checkup 3 months later things were improving. When I went for a checkup 1 year later ( having not had to go in or use any additional treatments during that entire time), all my testing was normal and my doctor congratulated me and thanked me for teaching her so very much about her specialty! David is an amazing designer and resource. Super patient in going through multiple issues/considerations and remarkably well resourced and thorough! I have no qualms recommending PURE home design to anyone and feel that everyone should put their health and family first and go with them. Most interior designers have no idea about these types of issues or what products to use to replace the customary ones. There is a lot of "greenwashing" in the industry. If you truly want both a beautiful and healthy home for your family, you have come to the right place. Thank you David!

We bought a new house and hired David for 3 projects: to replace the carpet, choose new interior paint colors, and to restain our hardwood floors. We found him to be very knowledgeable and well prepared for each meeting. We would talk about what we wanted and David would offer suggestions. Many times he would offer creative solutions that we didn't even consider. David was able to offer practical ideas for many of our issues while keeping our budget, style, and timeline in mind. In addition, as we have a family with a young child, he was very conscious of the safety of the materials he recommended. He is certified through the Sustainable Furnishings Council and an ASID Regreen trained interior designer and applies his training into his design suggestions. We are very satisfied with David’s work and plan to consult him for several future projects.

Schneider Kennedy Design helped us design and layout our bathroom. They were professional and worked very well with the materials we already had acquired, and also made great suggestions for products and materials that would work better in our unusual space. I am absolutely thrilled with the new look of my home. I contacted David Schneider at Schneider Kennedy Design because I read a positive review on the company on Angie's list. The first thing he wanted me to do was to complete a questionnaire so he could better help me to get the finished product I was looking for. I was impressed with his incredible ability to "see" the finished product even at the beginning stages of planning. He guided me through each step of the design process, always sharing with me the features of products that should be considered to increase the quality and those that I could do without. If something was pushing the limit of my budget, he always gave me alternatives and made it clear what the advantages and disadvantages were. David was always aware of my budget and my likes and dislikes. Following the design portion of the project, I chose to have David continue on the project and obtain estimates for all the work. I was very satisfied with the quality of work that was done by the companies hired. The most impressive part of my project is my kitchen cabinetry. The woodwork, hinges, drawer slides, etc. are excellent quality. Just looking at the cabinetry leaves no doubt that these are leaps and bounds beyond any kind of standard cabinets. I feel the cost was fair for the quality of these custom cabinets. I also had the cabinet builder build a custom table base for me. At no time did I ever question my choice of Schneider Kennedy Design. I feel the design fees were very fair. I wholeheartedly endorse Schneider Kennedy Design and I highly recommend this company.

Our master bath was a tiny (46 sq ft) room that had a multitude of problems, from corroding waste pipes, non-existent ventilation, mold, a failing shower valve, etc. In winter, the room was uncomfortably cold and the in-wall electric heater was non-functional (and pretty scary). David had previously done a kitchen refresh project for us, so we asked him to work on this project. Due to the mold (fortunately non-toxic), we needed to demolish the room completely down to the studs, joists and cinderblock; then reconstruct it from there. The job included significant relocation of plumbing. The design that David came up with was outstanding; he listened to us and made sure that the design included the features we wanted while maintaining his overall vision. The implementation was more difficult (and expensive) than we were expecting, in part due to things we discovered during demolition which required design reworking on the fly. The project took over 5 months and the cost significantly exceeded our initial guidelines, but the result was extraordinary and very functional. It has been comfortable this winter (due to a heated floor and a ceiling light that includes a heater) and really does an excellent job of meeting our original set of project goals and expectations.

David has the ability to get inside your head. He was able to take the style I wanted versus the style my new house dictated and meld the two with the perfect rugs and accessories so that my house feels like the perfect home. David also provides 'service after the sale'. He has stayed in touch to check that I am happy with the design, and has even sent pictures when he comes across something that would fit perfectly in my house.

My son, Eric, had Schneider & Kennedy design and manage the transformation of his new house's unfinished basement into a full bar, media room with raised seating, bathroom with granite shower, and billiard room compete with gas fireplace. I "helped" by opening doors, getting the workmen cold drinks, and arranging for opening the garage door and receiving most of the parts that went into the project. David Schneider did the actual heavy lifting of designing the project, picking the general contractor, supervising the entire project, selecting all the furniture, granite, light fixtures, colors, paints, and a hundred of other things. I'm like my son - picking a tie to go with a shirt and suit is beyond our artistic abilities - thank god for other people to make us and our homes look fantastic. My advice to folks is to not try to go cheap, like the horror stories of remodels on TV, hiring a competent designer doesn't really add that much to the overall cost of the project and lets you sleep like a baby at night and not worry yourself sick. David has an eye for design, creativity, and function. I wish my current house was in need of work to use his expertise. His focus on holistic living is without equal. As soon as I am ready to do my kitchen he will get the call. Now that he is doing designs in both Missouri AND California, I expect to see even greater designs!
