We have used this company once before for a bathroom vanity. There was a space left between the marble and mirror after installing. They did come out and fill it in and we were satisfied. They recently installed an exotic granite in our kitchen. Before the installer left I noticed and chipped out area near the sink cut out.I asked the installer about it.He took out a razor blade and begin to scrape across it which made it worse.I made another comment. He said they had to go..After he left I noticed scratches in the stone around the sink.I called the business with my complaint. Also the sink they I installed had a scratch on it plus glue running down all around the inside.I begin calling the company. The same installer came out a week or so later and put resin in the chipped out area. But couldn't fix the other problem. He did offer to replace the sink.By this time I didnt trust him to be doing anything further. He left a new sink in the event I changed my mind. When I asked about the other scratches and also a crack that came up in the stone in the area in front of the sink His remark was "What do you want me to do about it" I thought he knew what to do. By that time I was just so upset at his behavior. He left. I begin to get back in touch with the company. I spoke with the lady who helped us.Last she and I talked she said she would send a supervisor out. After that crickets. Next communication I have is when I was contacted about the remainder if the bill.I was passed over to someone else who explained to me that it was just a fissure not a crack and those scratches are part of natural stone. I have never seen anyone granite that had areas like that. Anyway I am stuck with paying for stone that I feel is damaged. The customer service has been very poor.It feels like they dont care. The least they can do is knock a considerable amount of money off the balance. I am sorry I used them.I really am disapointed.I have wanted granite for years.I cant believe this has happened.I am not hard to please or work with.I am sorry to have to write a bad review but maybe it will help someone else.

Comment from Fireplace & Granite Distributors:
So sorry to hear about your unhappiness.
Blue Flowers is an exotic material that while beautiful can chip easily at the edges.
I know we fixed all the chips that were visable, also the fissure in front of the sink does appear to be natural to me but perhaps we could try and make it less visable.
The sink could be easily replaced if it is somehow scratched and no charge to you of course. I know someone spoke to you for quite some time here trying to reach a solution and did even offer you a discount which you did not accept.
As it sits now unless I am mistaken the balance of your work is still not paid.
Please let me know how we can resolve this.
Thank you
Jim

I just want to say from my experience with Tracy, Granite Distributors, after many calls and messages and a visit from Tracy about cracks in our granite one of which is very large and noticable they would never return our calls or messages to replace or repair our granite. We spent around $4,000. and apparantly they do not guarantee their product or workmanship. Sandra Brown

Comment from Fireplace & Granite Distributors:
I am sorry you are so dissatisfied with your kitchen granite. We do absolutely stand behind our product and workmanship. The photos you sent are indicative of cracked granite 5 months after installation. The installation photos show no cracks at all. The areas where the granite has cracked is the most delicate. If the cabinets are not strong or someone stands in the granite for any reason this can happen. Granite is from nature and we are responsible for a clean install and transport. As your cracks are quite severe and separated you most definately have something else going on. I would be happy to review or explain to you. Feel free to call me at the office.

I can understand it's not going to please everyone but I think customer service most important things you can offer as merchant
In that regard my opinion there's some room to improve

I hired this company to renovate our master bathroom (new shower tile on walls and floors, bathroom floors, vanity, and vanity top) and was quoted that it would take 2 weeks to complete. The project ended up taking over 2 MONTHS. They installed the WRONG GRANITE vanity top, they ran out of tile out of tile twice, put in the wrong grout in between the floor tiles, tried to leave unfinished edges on some of the tiles, the shower floor tiles had to be tore out and put in again because they did not slope the shower pan correctly and water was not draining, and they moved an electrical outlet on the wall and illegally wired the new outlet using wire nuts behind the drywall without using an electrical box. I had to call them at least a few times a week to find out when workers would be showing up to do work because they never communicated with me. I would never recommend them to anyone for any project.

At first I was not sure how to answer this review. Not every project goes as planned.
First let me say we have thousands of satisfied customers. We have hundreds of great reviews from our happy customers and I love all of those reviews. I can't tell you how much a negative review bothers me, but here we go.
I spoke with Mr. Churchill during the process after things started to fall apart.
I apologized then and will again say I am sorry. The granite installed was the wrong remnant due to a paperwork error. The tile was not calculated correctly. The grout had to be redone. All of this is true. As the manager I was very serious about finding what happened with this job. We execute hundreds of jobs every year and I can not remember one as problematic as this one. Certain members of the team on this job no longer work for our company. Quite frankly wish that had been done before this project.
We worked with Mr. Churchill to resolve all the issues and give him a beautiful bathroom.
I know he was disappointed in the service and I can understand, but never once did I gloss over, try to cut corners, or make him accept anything less than his expectations. The job did take too long and was poorly executed, in the end completed and addressed all concerns. We also discounted the final bill. I will say I am not proud of how poorly this job was executed, but I am proud that we addressed all of the issues and completed the job and tried to please the customer, even though we lost that battle and a lot of money, I am still proud of how we operate and our ability to address our errors and correct them. We have learned from this job. Adjusted our staff and our procedures and it will never happen again. Please have a look at the hundreds of great online reviews from satisfied customers before you judge us.
Once again Mr. Churchill I am sorry. Really . Although I am not sure you believe me.

Used this company to remove ventless fireplace and install an electric one. With unit/installation prices sky high I had hoped for much more. After paying $1500 just for installation I still have a unit with uneven, gapping shroud surround. To fix the issue they want to charge me another $400! Do yourself a favor and orderyour unit online and find an independent contractor to install!

Unfortunately I am responing for the 4th time to this same post.
I am very sorry you do not feel that you received the service you deserved or fair value for your money. The truth is that you never asked about removing the hearth stone material. We were contracted to remove the ventless fireplace and install a new electric with a metal shroud that was custom made to make up the gap left by the difference in size. We measured and created the shroud based on the contract and since you were keeping your mantel we had no reason to believe you were removing your hearth. After the job was complete you decided to remove the hearth thus leaving the gap. I don't believe it would be our responsibility to create a new shroud for you based on your modifications after the job free of charge? Instead of repeatedly finding new sites to tell your story you should have called to discuss as I invited you to do the first time you left a review.
We do take customer service seriously and this is the 4th time I have made the same offer. If you are just going to try and bully us online I think you will remain disappointed.

We did a kitchen and dining room renovation and we chose Fireplace and Granite Distributors to do our soapstone countertops. We LOVE them! Jen and Tracy were great to work with in sales and design. And Dave did a great job with templating especially with our kitchen being over 150 years old and all the woes that go with a historic home. I loved working with Jacob on the slab layout. He did an amazing job pointing out and placing the veining of the slabs where they would complement my kitchen. The installation guys Sergey and Yury were also great ! They were such craftsmen and took pride in doing the best job they could. I would highly recommend this place of business and will use them again if I ever have anything else to do.

Horrible experience, we picked out slab and paid some down. Turns out it was marble even though they told us it was granite. They don't even know what they are selling. Man came out to measure and was there maybe 15 minutes. We removed old countertops ourselves. When installers came the granite is not even cut well. Has a rather large gap on right side. Large enough backsplash will not cover. Then they cut our door molding out with a saw because the marble was not notched out for it. It was stained molding so now it looks bad. We had to have countertop pieced together and we bought a countertop that had movement to it. They did not even match up the flow. Looked so noticeable. We emailed and complained and Jim would never contact us back. Our sales rep said she told him and he told us our email and hers went to his junk folder. How can a colleagues email go to junk folder. We made several phone calls and emails and finally got through. By the time we tried to get a new piece cut all they had were remnants. No one ever came back out to look at it or measure again. We went and picked out another piece. I took photos and a homemade tape strip showing distance between colors. Installers returned and cut out old piece chipping the one that stayed. Did a poor job with seam. They also cut several places into the sheet rock so we now have to reinforce it for backsplash. I also wanted a piece for the window seal out of the remnant we had left over. Amy was our sales rep and she said she get one and has never called. It's been over 2 months so I'm assuming she isn't calling. I've attached before and after photos from have never piece installed. I would never ever recommend this company. This is the first review I have ever written but I am so disappointed. Countertops are expensive and I don't want other to make the same mistakes we made.

Comment from Fireplace & Granite Distributors:
Hello
I am so sorry you feel you were wronged in any way.
Let me address the review as stated.
The material you picked out is certainly Marble. Amy is an experienced professional and assuredly did not tell you it was granite. In any exchange we had never once did you mention you were told it was granite. You did pick a material with tremendous movement and if it has to be pieced it is not possible to get an exact match and as you said we told you we would do the best we could with the slab chosen. However there are limitations to that and unless you wanted to purchase another slab from a matching lot we could not do any better. When we made the correction with a new piece that we hoped would flow better we had you come here view it and approve the change. I am not sure what else I could have done. If you did not like the new piece why did you approve it?
You sent an email to Amy. For some reason it did not come to my inbox. I don't know why I am not a computer tech, however within 2 weeks of receiving your email we has you scheduled come down to our shop, pick a new piece, cut polished and installed entirely at our expense, in the interest of good customer service.
So in my mind we had corrected the problem as I heard nothing else from you or your salesperson to the contrary. You approved the repair after all?
The gap at the right exists because Marble does not bend and in order to install the new piece you need a bit of room to maneuver the piece into place. This is nothing that tile would not cover.
The drywall had to be cut to make the granite fit correctly. The walls in most homes are not straight, some more than others. It would be either notch the drywall or leave a gap in the back, or scribe the entire length of counter. The notch does absolutely nothing to the structure of the wall. We also install tile back splashes everyday and never have we had a problem if the drywall was notched.
I agree the molding looks sloppy and we should have had a better solution there but this was never mentioned to me by you at all.
Dry cutting marble as we did to remove the piece you did not like is never the best idea as marble chips like crazy. We can not bring a wet saw into your home.
After all is said and done. You contacted me with a concern. (something subjective that you did not like) I agreed to recut the portion you requested. Had you pick out and approve the new material and installed it entirely at our expense within 2 weeks.
We did our very best to please you, and I thought you were pleased, until now?
If you still had an issue you should have reached out to us and communicate your displeasure in a productive way.
I stand behind my service and the job we did. your photos are incomplete and you approved the material and the match.

The folks at Fireplace and Granite Distributors did an excellent job with my recent kitchen update -- granite countertops and travertine tile backsplash. They were punctual, professional, and courteous. They have true craftsmen working for their company...people who take pride in their work. Tracy (sales) was great at helping me select the right "color" of granite and coordinating backsplash. It was a very good experience and I am thrilled with the results! I highly recommend them!

I worked with Dale and he was very knowledgeable and helped me pick out the best combination of granite and subway tile for my kitchen. Service was great and they made the process extremely easy. They provided great customer service and the finished product is fantastic!

We went to this place to update a gas fireplace. The first time we spoke to a woman that was supposed to give us a call back. She never did. Approx 6 months later we decided to give them another try, spoke to a salesperson that said that woman was no longer there. Once again picked out what we wanted, and was told the owner would come and measure. He did a week later. We called them for the estimate and about one month later never received it! What's wrong with these people? Do they not care about thousands of dollars?? WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER

This review is not accurate.
The customer was here on the 12th someone was out to her house and a estimate / contract was sent via email before the 23rd of Nov.
She has 2 email addresses. I resent after I was contacted.
I am not sure why she was so upset I did send the estimate in a timely manner and I did have her job previewed within a week of visiting our showroom.
It is true that the person they originally dealt with is no longer in our employ but not sure why they waited 6 months to ask about the original quote?

They were patient, warm and welcoming. I had a new counter top and backsplash put in. There was no rushing and were able to show me a variety of options with varied costs. They were easy to work with, neat and clean. My counter top required a seam. If you don't know it is there, you can't see it.
