We were thrilled with the way Ana was able to use and display our unique and eclectic art in a way that was exactly reflective of our style and taste! I learned the hard way that you should NEVER paint kitchen cupboards! They started pealing after less than 2 years after having a contractor paint my cupboards white. Replacing cupboards would also mean new backsplash and countertop. After lots of research, I found Total Home Design and Remodeling. Ana responded within hours of my initial inquiry on their website and scheduled time to see my condo and discuss my project. Ana and I clicked right away. She understood what I wanted and how much I wanted to spend. Once I met Matt, I was confident that they could deliver what I wanted within my budget. I wasn't disappointed! As with all projects, there are unexpected challenges. They addressed them timely with great outcomes. Ana and Matt are truly customer-focused. I love my new kitchen!

Ana and Matt, along with their handyman, Luke, did an outstanding job with our project. I live in a condo in Old Town and wanted a fresh look without structural changes. My strongest desire was to incorporate several must -have pieces that my husband and I truly love having in our home. These pieces include family heirlooms as well as antiques we bought when stationed in Europe. I was immediately impressed at our first meeting when Matt and Ana listened to our vision and came up with exciting ideas to make it a reality throughout the process. I met with Ana to select furniture, light fixtures, kitchen countertop, flooring, paint and fabric. She saved me from spending hours second guessing or selecting the wrong product. Matt and Luke were responsible and respectful of our time and space. My condo feels fresh, new, and calm. My husband and I highly recommend this company! We look forward to our next project with them.

We hired Ana and Matt to completely renovate our house which is a two-story typical family house in West Springfield, VA. The house was built in the seventies and pretty much had all the original building materials everywhere. The project included hardwood floors, except bedrooms, redesigning and remodeling the kitchen and the bathrooms, new stairs and railings, basically everything — overall a significant transformation of the house. Ana and Matt, the owners, are a decorator/contractor young couple (the first baby was on the way during the project). We also hired Ana to help us to re-furnish a large part of the house. We picked them because they seemed to be the most knowledgable and attentive from the companies we interviewed. During the project, we were informed about everything regarding schedule, costs, and problems. The communication was excellent. I'm not an expert, but I firmly believe they were 100% honest with us. The project was finished in time and on budget. On budget meaning, every overage was either because of unforeseen problems or because we changed our mind on the go. We were delighted with the quality of the workmanship. Matt is very talented. Additionally, to their core team, they used a few contractors, but they always supervised them closely. The end result is stunning. We are very happy to give them 5 stars! We totally recommend Total Home Design (pun intended). We will definitely hire them again when we need them.

Matt and Ann at Total Home did a spectacular job for us remodeling our master bath, kitchen, powder room, as well as replacing the old tile flooring on our first floor with beautiful hardwood. Ana spent a lot of time with us - taking some rough ideas that we had and leading us towards a fully realized design that far exceeded what we had imagined. Her taste is impeccable and she was extremely patient, spending a lot of time with us while we zeroed in on the design of our new spaces while offering multiple designs and options. Matt and his team of craftsmen were very talented and obviously proud of their work - the level of fit and finish was spectacular. Matt made sure that every question was answered, every detail addressed, and ensured that we realized the best value for every phase of the project. He was also very flexible and responsive. Matt, Ana, and their team were very respectful of our home and stayed right on schedule and right on budget! This was the biggest home project we've ever undertaken and we know we made the right choice to work with Total Home Design and Remodeling.

We hired this company to renovate a hallway bathroom in 2017 and to completely redesign and install the master bathroom in 2018. Pictures for both are included on Total Home's Houzz page -- Fairfax Station, hallway bathroom and Greek Island inspired master bathroom. Matt, Ana,, and tech Luke are all very skilled professionals. From the first meeting thru the final day of the project, we were kept informed of the cost, schedule, any problems or potential problems and the proposed solutions. The final result is 2 bathrooms that are absolutely perfect. Some things that are important to us: Small business and all team members communicate well and are very easy to work with; we always knew who was working in our home and we were very comfortable letting them work when we were out; some plumbing and electrical had to be sub-contracted, but a member of the core team always accompanied them and assured that the work was performed correctly; a company that does what it says it is going to do -- Total Home does; when small problems occur ( and a couple did), they worked to resolve the problem until we were totally satisfied. We recommend Total Home Design and, yes, we would hire them again.

Ana did a great job meeting with me at local businesses to help me choose cabinets, backsplash and tile to remodel my kitchen. She also gave me expert advise with choosing paint colors for all the different rooms on the main level of my home. She gave great advice in picking out light fixtures. She is definitely up on the latest trends but also will advise on choosing décor that will stand the test of time. She is very flexible and I would definitely hire her again. Highly Recommend!!!!

I would hire them again. They were to do a whole renovation. Illness delayed this from happening. They started with the master bath. I love the design, and we worked together to come up with it. Every step of the way, it was a coordinated plan. The best part for me, is Ana did all the hard work, "reading my mind", and coming up with all the details that made for a lovely finished bathroom. Very accommodating to work around pets and bed bound client. They came back promptly to fix a problem that popped up, after they were finished. They did not just disappear after work was finished. That speaks volumes for a company.

I cannot say enough great things about my experience with Ana and Matt!! I found them with several projects in mind including remodeling our master bath and kids bath and building built in shelves in our home office space. From organizing what we were asking for to designing it within our budget to preparing us for demolition to the actual work they guide you through it all. Their communication is great, they are timely, neat and professional. We really wish they could redo our whole house. Do not hesitate to enlist them for your next project. You won’t be disappointed.

I worked with Ana to redecorate my living room, dining room and foyer. She also helped me update my kitchen by replacing the island and countertops and adding a stylish backsplash and coffee bar. The results were fantastic, and I really enjoyed working with Ana! She is good listener, easy going and is very knowledgeable about products, sources and budget friendly options. It felt like I had a friend on my side that walked me through the whole process. Ana began by first identifying my style and making wall color selections based on my request to create a light and airy feel in my house. The next day, she began sending pictures of furniture, accent pieces and décor for me to choose. Her ideas fit exactly with what I and my family wanted. As an added bonus, everything she suggested coordinated perfectly with my artwork and photographs. Finally, her furniture selections took into account both form and function which made our house look very inviting and comfortable.

Ana and Matt are the owners and also the decorator/ contractor husband and wife team of Total Home Services. I had a vision for a romantic, French inspired white country kitchen, and they brought that vision to life. I love my beautiful new kitchen! Matt and Luke were the primary workmen on my project. They were clean, respectful, and punctual. Although the footprint of the kitchen did not change, the entire kitchen was gutted and redone. New appliances, new cupboards, a gorgeous farmhouse sink, and open shelves are a few of the beautiful changes they made to my kitchen. They laid a brick tile floor in a herringbone pattern which was very labor intensive, and the end result is a masterpiece of quality workmanship! Ana listened closely to my ideas, and helped me find all the resources to pull the look together. I happily rate them 5 stars, and would definitely recommend them to anyone interested in a kitchen remodel!

I decided to work with Total Home Services and Design after looking at pictures on Houzz. Ana's style was what I was looking to accomplish in updating my living and dining areas and kitchen. She was fantastic! She understood my goals and selected colors, furniture, items and products that complimented the spaces. Ana was responsive throughout the project by using Ideabooks, texts and emails which worked great for me while on the go. THSD's quality of work was superior and the team created beautiful, comfortable spaces that I look forward to coming home to. I enjoyed working with Ana and Matt and highly recommend their services.

We consulted THS for ideas to redo our flooring. Ana helped us search and choose a hardwood product we were very happy with, carefully taking into account all our ideas. We purchased the hardwood, and had THS installers accomplish the work - we scheduled them quickly and they did a superb job! Every detail expertly fit, and the new floor (over 1,000 square feet) looks terrific. The entire job was completed in just a full days of work. Ana and her team recommended a perfect underlayment to ensure the hardwood laid perfectly plus to muffle the sound and reduce echoes and walking noises. Now we're having her consult with some area rugs and a new furniture piece or two. Highly recommend Ana and Total Home Services!!!

I will start with the bottom line up front. Would I hire them again, you bet I would. Not only is the quality of their work topnotch, they (Matt/Ana) are honest, patient, upfront and trustworthy. I was considering hiring a labor only contractor and I asked Matt to explain the difference, e.g., cost and what his company would bring to the table. Besides a very good description that laid out the pros and cons, Matt was up front about cost. He did not shy away from the fact I could have saved some money going labor only, in the long run, what I would get from his team would be worth it. I absolutely know I did the correct thing in choosing Matt/Ana and team. I think going the other route would have been nothing but headaches. Now, I have a great looking bathroom and no headaches!

Total Home Service was referred to me and once engaged with the company I quickly realized without a doubt of their wide range of internal design, construction capabilities, expertise and best of all their attention to details. Totally professional, honest, up front with challenges & problems plus top quality workmanship! The very best tile work & painting we’ve ever seen (not one visible seam – very smooth). Our last renovation (almost a total gut including 2 full baths plus kitchen) included some serious issues including moving buildings worth of phone lines to give us the open concept look we desired without columns or other obstructions. Matt & his team did not give up – they finally found a way to make this happen. They were able to work within our buildings strict requirements, get plans approved by the board & city, dealt with all the permitting so we did not need to get involved. Total Home Services was fantastic all around. We renovated a kitchen on a new house, beginning the project while living in a different city. I thought that planning a renovation from out of town would be very stressful, but this team made it seamless and easy. Matt, the owner/contractor, was very thorough with any questions that I had regarding timeline, costs, etc. Ana, the designer, was extremely helpful. She did all of the leg work for us in finding all the new materials for the kitchen, from cabinets to counter tops and light fixtures. She was able to match the style that I love with both my budget and the existing style of the house we were building into. They worked within a very realistic timeline too. Once the ordered cabinets and countertops were in, this team was immediately ready to finish off the project. In the end, the kitchen is fantastic. Total Home Services did an excellent job remodeling my bathroom. It turned out even better than I had expected. They were very responsive, provided excellent advice, and accomplished the work in a timely fashion. we had our bathroom completely gutted except for the tub. Matt and his team were very professional. They arrived on time everyday and stayed on schedule throughout the project. It was obvious they have a lot of experience renovating bathrooms. From gutting the existing space, to replacing sub floor, to installing the tile, it went very smoothly. I also appreciated that they hauled away all remnants of the old appliances (toilet, vanity, mirror,etc) the first day and continued to haul away the trash from the renovation everyday. We are very pleased with our new bathroom and would highly recommend Total Home Services.

They did the crown moulding for us. They provided excellent customer services and craftsmanship.. We can't ask for better result than this!!
