“Project: Renovate 1st floor of my home (Drywall, Paint, Flooring, and Kitchen Remodel). The Maintenance Department Team is by far the BEST contracting company I have ever worked with. Before having the Maintenance Department Team begin the job, I had few contractors source the work to see if they could do the job, but none of them had the knowledge and character like Rich Gardner. Rich was friendly, easy to talk to about the project, and saw the vision for what we wanted to achieve. At that point, I knew Rich could get the job done based on the answers to my questions. During the entire renovation project, Rich demonstrated superior qualities by staying customer-focus, following-through on pending items, and delivering on all tasks (which was no easy job, renovating an entire 1st floor of a home). He continued to keep us updated day-after-day, and night-after-night. It was real assuring to know that we could have a conversation with Rich during any hour of the day (all part of our experience). During our daily walk through, he even saw minor-flaws in certain areas that I did not notice, and proceeded to correct them immediately. “I recently worked with Cal Glass to have my bathrooms and kitchen renovated. I had never done a renovation before so I really had NO IDEA what I was doing. The process with Cal Glass from beginning to end was seamless! They held my hand throughout the whole process and allowed me to focus on the fun part. “I highly recommend this contractor. Last year I hired Gibson Construction to renovate a medium size guest bathroom and hallway closet. It was a complete redesign and overhaul, not just a cosmetic update. My design plan required someone with the skill to move both electrical and plumbing fixtures, and find solutions to several of my rather demanding requests including "out of the floor" bathtub plumbing, installation of pocket doors and detailed tile work. It was a very complicated job that required great skill, experience and attention to detail. They did such an amazing job that this year I hired them to build a large walk in closet and renovate the master bathroom. This required removing a load bearing wall, installing a support beam in the attic, moving furnace/AC unit from a hall closet into the attic, and removing a gas water heater while installing a tankless water heater in order to utilize wasted space from the original design of my 1950s built home. They also installed a larger exterior window and built some custom cabinetry. The Gibson Construction crew and its owner, George Gibson, did an outstanding job. The owner personally supervised all aspects of the work. He made sure that each aspect of the job was performed by only the most skilled professionals in each construction field who often worked along side of the owner to accomplish each project. From the plumber, to the electrician, to the tile installers, painters, framing/drywall, floor installation, glass door, etc - they were all the best of the best. Each aspect of the job was done to perfection. The crew showed up on time each day and worked long days to get the job done with little interruption to my home. They provided a detailed schedule and stuck to it. The cost of the project met the quote and budget that was agreed to in the quote. There were no surprises. The workmanship was precise and of the highest quality. In addition to providing highly skilled work, the entire crew contributed to my design plan with helpful ideas for placement of fixtures based on their years of experience knowing what works the best in terms of functionality. The tile grout lines are not only perfect but the design is beautiful. In addition to the workmanship, probably the most important factor in my high recommendation is the ability of this contractor to trouble shoot, solve problems and take responsibly for the work. When you do a renovation, you will encounter issues, no matter how skilled the contractor is. We had some of the plumbing and lighting materials arrive with defective parts. I was responsible for providing fixtures per my own request. This contractor and his plumbing/electrical crews immediately determined what was wrong with the products and he helped me exchange them with new fittings that solved the problems. I have done renovations in the past with other crews and they do not respond to problems in such a responsible manner. Anyone who has done renovations know that when problems arise, many contractors will run and hide and not answer their phone. This contractor will dig in, find the defective item that is causing the issue, and solve the problem quickly while keeping the schedule on track. The end results of my bathrooms and closets are incredible. Whether a smaller job like a guest bathroom or large project like a master bath and closet, this contractor gives the same level of attention to workmanship. Honest, hard working and reliable. A contractor and crew like this is hard to find.”

“I feel that I was incredibly lucky to find Open Hand and work with them on my remodeling project. I met Danny, who is great, but Mike was the lead person I worked with and, after the three months my projects ended up taking (the majority of the work taking place from mid-December to mid-February and the rest in April), I would trust him, Rafael, and the other guys on their crew with my life - and pretty much did a couple of times. :) I started with them on a relatively small interior remodel of my kitchen, and was initially impressed when Mike's estimate came in at one-third that of the other company I contacted (and which had seemed totally outrageous to me). They did a beautiful job on that and *fast* so that I could have my kitchen finished by Christmas. I was so pleased about their work that I talked to Mike about doing a major exterior project - removing a ton of concrete and redoing the driveway and, as it turned out, also building a deck in the front of the house. Every step of the way, the work was beautifully done and their prices were very reasonable. In addition, they were responsive and incredibly helpful when things went wrong, as things inevitably do on a big project. In this case, that included finding out a sewer pipe was blocked by a tree root in the middle of redoing the driveway. The guys were here digging out the root and repairing the pipe - on Superbowl Sunday! - so that I wouldn't have to go stay in a hotel and we could keep on schedule. What I really appreciated about the Open Hand crew, and especially Mike, is that they put some thought into what will make your house more comfortable. For instance, I had not even considered replacing my old single-pane windows, but after listening to me complaining about how cold it was in the house while they were working on the kitchen, Isaac brought up the idea with me. Mike followed up with an estimate, but then let the idea rest, so I never felt pressured to add to the work order. I ended up deciding they were right about the windows, and the guys did an incredible job of matching the look of the old windows with new energy-efficient ones. The difference in terms of keeping the house cool in summer and warm in winter - not to mention in my energy bills - is amazing! All in all, I found Mike and everyone at Open Hand to be really kind and thoughtful people who are also great at what they do, fair in their pricing, and quick and communicative. I was actually not prepared to have such a smooth, positive remodeling experience! I'm very happy with how everything has turned out, and so are my neighbors - I have folks stopping by all the time now to comment on how great the deck and driveway look, and they don't even know about the fantastic work in the kitchen. :) I will definitely recommend Open Hand to everyone I know who's thinking about remodeling.”
