Rooftopia completed a very challenging balcony deck for me. They successfully communicated with the HOA engineer and my architect in order to get the HOA and city permit approval. Something that looked impossible before. Their talent doesn't stop with maneuvering challenging political roads, but they are also incredibly creative thinkers and problem solvers! The city required the existing balcony parapet wall to be raised in order to meet current code, and the HOA required that no penetrations be made to the existing structure. Rooftopia's metal working crew is top talent! They were able to engineer a metal railing that didn't require securing to the existing parapet wall and it looks absolutely stunning. The pedestal system and pavers they recommended are both incredibly practical and beautiful. It is rare to see so many different talented people in such a small company, but Rooftopia is the one place that gets really close to being a true utopia.

I can't rave enough about Rooftopia and the work that they've done to my front and backyard as well as my rooftop. All I had on the roof was Trex when we bought our house, and the Rooftopia team helped design (read: essentially designed the entire project for me). On the roof they built a custom made pergola, planters, a kitchen island and more! They showed up timely, worked in the heat of the summer (I felt terrible), was respectful of my house and my neighbors. I even got a comment in my neighborhood FB group about how polite and friendly they were! For my front yard, all I had was grass. They designed a beautiful landscape, with edible berries and made it look so much more colorful and cleaner. They were extremely responsive, upfront with all costs and overall fantastic to work with. I completely trusted their decisions and materials and loved their designs. I essentially give them free reign of all my planters now. I wish I could attach more pictures - these ones are from a 4th of July party I had, which they were working overtime to try to be done in time! They truly did fantastic work, I couldn't recommend them enough and I love supporting a minority-owned business. I look forward to having them back to help with more projects!

We looked at several different companies to build a roof deck on our home in Wicker Park. It was obvious early on that Jenn and her crew at Rooftopia were a different breed of builders. From day 1 there was open communication and a collaboration on the project. We felt comfortable every step of the way as we were always updated and consulted throughout the endeavor in a manner in which we knew so much care went into their work. The crew was so respectful of our home at all times. The finished project is amazing and the space is everything we had hoped for and more. The summer of 2019 has been phenomenal thanks to the new roof deck. The caring and dedication to their craft is obvious and the reason we would recommend Rooftopia for a project over any of the other options available in Chicago.

We really had a great experience working with Jenn and her team. The design process was informative and smooth for us and the team is a pleasure to work with. Communication was excellent once the project started, she was transparent about costs, stuck to schedule as best able given the weather, and things turned out beautiful. We have hired Rooftopia for two significant projects at different homes, and have been extremely pleased with their work. Jenn and her team are top notch, responsive, creative, incredibly flexible and a joy to work with. Everything is custom and tailored to you, they aren't afraid to experiment, take inspiration or adapt their big scale builds to smaller scale or paced out projects. All of her team members were awesome, professional and respectful of our space. They finished the project on time, on budget and delivered high quality and unique final pergola construction. We get so much more use out of our deck now with the new pergola. Our favorite part about our pergola was how they took inspiration from our love of Portuguese and Morrocan tiles and created custom metal screens to our pergola. We recommend them without hesitation for any of your urban landscaping projects.

We had a wonderful experience working with Rooftopia. There staff was easy to work with and they were able to turn our vision into reality. They listened to what we were looking for and the final project was better than we could imagined.

We worked with Jenn and her team from design through implementation and are thrilled with the final results. Our project while not huge had some challenges as we were having terraces on the 23rd floor landscaped with planters (container trees, grasses, annuals and perennials on one terrace and an edible garden of herbs and veggies on the smaller terrace). The plants selected needed to tolerate wind and sun. Rooftopia listened to our needs, preferences and feedback, and quickly made the requested changes on the design along the way until we were all satisfied. Jenn and the entire Rooftopia team were great to work with during every phase. We even received a compliment from the building on how courteous, professional and responsible the crew was at installation - they lwere extremely careful of the building and left everything in great shape. They are creative, hardworking and just plain fun to work with.

From vision to finished project, Rooftopia was wonderful. Jenn and Marcin and their entire on-site team were consummate professionals, but on top of that just really, really nice people. The project was for an upper and lower deck and the finished project in Bucktown (pictures coming in the spring) turned out gorgeous. They also did a smaller front entry way project for us on a tight timeframe and it looks perfect, as well. The thing about Rooftopia is that they pay attention to every detail. The final product is so beautifully finished. A quick shout out to the "team" who actually came and worked at our home. They were there for several months. Having people working on your house can be hard. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about the people who came each day. They clearly took a lot of pride in their workmanship and were incredibly considerate and really, really wanted us to be happy. Combine our gorgeous outcome with an excellent design and management team and a great on-site team with wonderful craftsmanship and you can be sure that I would gladly recommend Rooftopia to anyone I know (and have already!).

I can’t begin to say enough good things about Rooftopia and their crew! When I set out on this journey to reinvent my outdoor living space, I didn’t know what to expect and what was possible. I met with several designers and contractors, and they all came to the table with typical Chicago deck designs. I called Rooftopia on a recommendation from a friend (and new client of theirs). I was not disappointed! From the moment I reached out to Jenn, Jill and Marcin, I knew this experience would be different. They are the ultimate professionals, and were genuinely excited to be able to provide me with a customized design that matched my vision for the space. I recently bought my home and knew the deck & rooftop needed immediate attention; it would be a massive undertaking for a new homeowner. Jenn & Jill were my primary contacts and they provided excellent, timely communication, and most importantly, honest feedback on what could & couldn’t be done. Marcin, and the entire onsite crew were equally as impressive. I knew I was in capable hands. We started in November 2017 with my garage rooftop, and will finish in the summer of 2018 with the lower deck. So far, the result has been a completely transformed garage rooftop! My new space looks like something you’d find in a restaurant, bar or lounge, not in someone’s backyard! I can’t wait for the summer so we can start the second phase. Rooftiopia was wonderful to work with. The project team made multiple site visits to make accurate plans for the project. When work was able to start the project lead was in full contact providing updates and schedule details. They were flexible and quick to adjust as things came up. The workmen were friendly, courteous, and diligent. They cleaned up after themselves at the end of every workday and stored items securely out of the way. The finished product exceeded our expectations. The quality of materials and work was some of the best I have experienced. Can't wait to use them in the spring for new projects!

We love our finished roof top and get so much use out of it -not to mention tons of compliments on Rooftopia’s fabulous design! It has really added to our summer enjoyment! The project we hired Rooftopia for is the one entitled "West Chicago Backyard Rehab" on this site. The best part about working with Jenn and Marcin is that they really are a one-stop shop. We knew after buying our house that the back deck was going to be Big Project #1. The old, wooden deck that came with the house was literally falling apart, the concrete pathway and back steps were cracking as the ground had shifted and sloping toward the house. After meeting with Jenn and explaining all of our concerns to her, she put together a concept drawing that perfectly reflected our vision. They took care of everything, from the demolition of the old deck, repairing the garage roof, building the new frame, leveling the ground, putting in landscaping and lighting. We couldn't be more happy with the end result! They completely transformed our unusable ground space to something we used all summer long, it was like adding a full room onto our house! The landscaping and lighting is beautiful. As with any renovation project, there were a few bumps along the way, but Jenn and Marcin handled everything very professionally and made adjustments along the way. I would highly recommend you work with them!

Rooftopia completed our large terrace deck and we were thrilled with the process and the results. They did a great job. It's absolutely beautiful. It can be difficult working in a high-rise building, but they made it easy. Their team is highly skilled and they were very professional. We give them a thumbs up!

Rooftopia built and installed a new awning, balcony rail, and gate door for us and we could not be more happy. They did an amazing job. We wanted something industrial and modern but still feel like home. They came up with a clean look using both a warm cedar and heavy steel. Their communication was always clear and punctual, and their crew was very pleasant to have on sight. The experience and results from Rooftopia get five stars!

We have a side patio in our duplex down condo in Uptown on the North Side of Chicago. When we purchased our property, the patio was a dated-looked exposed aggregate nightmare with a drainage problem. When we began looking for companies to remove the concrete and re-design the space, we contacted nearly 20 companies. We ended up choosing Rooftopia because of their sterling reputation and the ease of communication, as well as their innovative ideas and respect for our budget limits. I literally cannot praise this company enough. They completed the project on time, on budget and kept us consistently updated the entire time. They pay great attention to detail and dealt very well with some last minute changes in the plan and complications. If you are having an urban landscape or patio completed, don't let the name Rooftopia make you think that they just do rooftops. They did a better job with our outdoor patio space than I could imagine and better than what we would have gotten with a typical landscaping company. Our patio is literally the envy of all of our friends and people keep telling us it looks like something out of an HGTV television program. The difference between what it was before and what it is now is remarkable. On top of everything else, they are very honest and ethical people and truly want to do a good job. I could tell that they actually wanted us to be happy with our space and wanted us to have exactly what we wanted. They were very flexible and very, very easy to work with. I would recommend this company to anyone. They are AMAZING.

I can't say enough good things about Rooftopia. I didn;t really have a set vision about what I wanted for the roof deck. All I had was some furniture I had bought before and some pots that I had planted. Now my space is amazing! Jenn was super detailed in everything and even though she had sent me updated drawings of the space constantly, it doesn't compare to real life. She and the entire team (Marcin, Jill) were super responsive and great to work with. They have great taste and would offer me multiple suggestions for colors for planters or the parapet screens or the decking etc. I will say I always went with their suggestion and it was definitely the right thing to do. The quality of their work is exceptional and worth every penny. Jenn is also very respectful of the budget you set and doesn't ever try to push or make you feel like you need to spend more. My experience with them was great and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants an amazing roof deck.

My husband and I recently had Jenn and Marcin build a new deck on our 5th floor rooftop. Jenn and Marcin are wonderful. They were very timely, professional, and provided drawings, revisions, and prices at all steps during the planning stage of the project. They are very skilled and have a good eye for design; they matched our contemporary style that we desired very well. The project was completed in March in just three weeks--much less time than I thought it would take. Their carpenter did excellent work; I couldn't be happier with the workmanship of the deck and walls. The wood and metal they used is beautiful and very nicely constructed. Although we didn't use their services for planters/lighting due to budget constraints, I'm hoping to add these elements sometime in the future and will definitely only use Rooftopia's services for any more additions to our roof.

I wish I would have met Jenn sooner. She does my green roof, my window boxes and my side yard. Since she's been working her magic on my rooftop, I've not wanted to leave. What she has done to our outdoor spaces is nothing short of amazing. She is awesome!

We all know that special conflict that occurs when you find an amazing service provider that is a growing company with amazing talent and customer service....you don't want to tell anyone but they deserve the recognition they have earned. This is the sentiment I feel with Rooftopia and the owners Jenn and Marcin. We have worked with them for almost three years now in a total rebirth of our back deck and garage roof deck and they have been accommodating to our aesthetic as well as financial needs every step of the way. We have requested changes, additions, needed structural work when unanticipated and they have provided patiences and knowledge at each step. They clearly love what they do, and what you get out of it is truly a mixture of construction brilliance (Marcin) with an aesthetic and artistic twist that blends a design of contemporary flow with a soft and warm feel at home space. We gained an entire new addition to our home with space that was never welcoming and therefore never used by making the changes that we did with Rooftopia. If you want to make a change and need someone that can work with you to make it happen within your budget Rooftopia can do this. We had a limited budget and had to break up the work over two seasons. This worked great and allowed us to spread out the financial commitment and get everything we wanted. I would never hesitate to recommend Rooftopia to anyone.

Amazing! I was referred by a friend who had a great experience with Jenn & Marcin - so I hired them to revive my patio space. The result was amazing. Jenn is an incredibly talented designer and super patient with a great attention to detail. Marcin can literally build anything and is a great problem solver which was invaluable since my patio space is small and my expectations were big. Plus, they're both just good people. They did the whole job - initial concept, design renderings, purchasing or building from scratch all the components, construction, clean-up, and follow-up. Kept right on budget and communicated openly throughout. I will hire them again for sure and now my neighbors are asking who did my patio work.

My husband and I worked with Rooftopia to transform our city rooftop deck. They did a spectacular job and they worked within our budget. I like the fact that they worked with us every year to "winterize" our space. The prices were very reasonable so that we didn't have to do a thing when the summer hit. They would plant our flower boxes, set the sprinkler system, lay the mulch and spruce up in just 1 day. We were able to come home from a long day's work and enjoy the deck from summer through fall !!! I hired Rooftopia a few years back to design my roof deck, they did an exceptional job in design, delivery and budget. My wife and I bought a condo with a large outdoor area. We spent several months meeting with various outdoor design firms and ended up selecting Rooftopia to build our privacy screens, pergola, planter boxes, and benches. Whereas most firms spent a majority of our meetings taking measurements, Rooftopia spent their time getting to know us, our preferences, and our space. The extra time and attention showed in their designs. After each meeting we received updated 3-D drawings of the design and updated itemized budget. They were always on time, always prepared, and always respected our budget. We also liked the idea that the people we were meeting with were the same people who were designing and would eventually build our outdoor elements. During the construction Rooftopia always followed through on build dates and kept us posted on the budget. Each of the elements are not only beautiful but they are sturdy and well built. We had total confidence in every member of the Rooftopia team and appreciated their craftsmanship and respect of our home. Our outdoor space was completed about a month ago and we’ve hardly been inside since. We’re happy with our decision to work with Rooftopia each time we look outside and see our beautiful outdoor area!

Rooftopia has been exceptional to work with. We live in an apt. duplex with limited space available for them to work with but they were able to create a beautiful landscape. Although we were on a tight budget, they were able to offer us so many options. Everything was completely professional. The proposal was clear and included photo images so we could visualize the layout and end product. They were in constant communication during the entire process too. They are the best in Chicago and so grateful we found them!
