I want give my highest recommendation for Fred Haber and his crew at Haber Painting. He and the two main gentlemen that work with him are extremely professional, meticulous, timely, sweet and kind. I want to expand on each attribute a bit more.
PROFESSIONAL: We bought our house several years ago. The previous owner didn't take very good care of the house and so it was in dire need of not just a new coat of paint, but sealing and replacing cracked parts on the wood slats and window area as well as cleaning off years of debris on moldings. We have an intricate Victorian/Edwardian architecture and wanted to make sure that the details were brought to their former glory. After much searching, we decided to go with Haber Painting. He met with us, saw our home, and discussed our goals for our home including the color scheme. He then gave us a detailed bid for the work. We found his prices to be fair, especially for the quality work he does. He communicated with us regularly and there were never any surprises. He is an artist and so we really appreciated the advice he gave us.
METICULOUS AND ON TIME: Haber Painting uses all types of paints, but they are trained in using the Fine Paints of Europe. This is a very high-end paint that can be used to paint furniture, front doors, or the ornate details of a house. The crew was meticulous about dust control and uses top of the line sanders with vacuum attachments. I have a newborn, a toddler, a husband with dust allergies, and grumpy neighbors so dust management was a top priority. We were very impressed with the lack of dust. Fred and his crew were on time every day and the entire project was completed in the time promised. Fred is a perfectionist and so if something doesn't look right, he will be sure to fix it. He was very hands-on throughout the entire project.
KIND and SWEET: Fred and the guys are genuinely nice people. They all live in the city and therefore understand the challenges of trying to get stuff and kids out the door. Hence, they made sure the scaffolding was very safe, and not in the way of any of the doorways, allowing me to get the stroller out easily. Fred and the crew were so sweet to my 3-year old son who had a million questions about the entire process. My son even made a pretty big smudge on the wet paint - think fingerprints going AWAL (Arg!) but the guys were so nice to him about it, even if I wasn't. Our upstairs neighbor has a big dog and Fred and the crew were mindful and welcoming of the dog, which my neighbors really appreciated.
This part is where Fred went above and beyond! After our building was painted, I got inspired to paint the stairs inside our house. Fred, out of the kindness of his heart (and maybe realizing that because I was recently postpartum, I was in over my head even though I it didn't see it yet) helped me paint the stairs using oil paints. Our stairs were neglected for maybe 75 years and were in bad shape; hence we needed to use oil paints to seal the wood. But, holy hanna - oil paints are tough to work with. Fred taught me (and did 75%) how to use his industrial sander with a vacuum to sand the stairs. He also taught me (and did 50%) what paints to select and how to use the oil paints. The paint store sold me the wrong paints and Fred went back and got the right paint for me. While we worked together, with him doing the lion's share of the work, we chatted and had a great time. I really got the opportunity to know him; he is a truly wonderful person. The stairs turned out beautiful! I am so grateful to Fred!!!
