In mid-2017, we decided to remodel our 1970’s era custom kitchen. Since the layout was going to stay essentially the same, we did not need a kitchen designer, but we did need help with choosing cabinets and countertops, and contractors. Once we narrowed our cabinet choices to Wellborn and one other brand. I stopped in to AU Granite and Marble, which I had driven by many times on my way to Home Depot, and which sells Wellborn, as well as many kinds of granite and other counter surfaces The salesman, Larry, sat down with me and patiently went over everything I was considering, showing me many options and discussing pros and cons of each. He then came to the house to see for himself what we needed, and take measurements. After much fine-tuning of specs, he presented us with detailed CAD drawings, a bid that was several thousand dollars less than a proposal we had receive from another local vendor for a similar quality cabinet brand. I can’t say enough about how knowledgeable, helpful and patient Larry was throughout the process. When we ran into a problem with some feature of the design, he had some solution that we never would have thought of that worked. And when we came up with some new idea, he would either help incorporate it into the design or give a darned good reason why it was a bad idea. His depth of experience is remarkable. When it came time to pick out the material for the countertops, we were told that AU can get and fabricate just about anything available in the region; not just the ones they have on display in their own showroom We located the slabs we wanted at one of the large warehouse showrooms, and AU quickly had them delivered to their fabrication yard. We then were able to choose exactly which part of one of the slabs we wanted for a certain feature we had in mind. Fabrication was flawless, and AU’s installers worked amazingly fast and efficiently. Larry also recommended some contractors to do the remodel, and we used one of his recommendations. While the whole remodel took a bit longer than we anticipated (which is almost always the case in any renovation project) the contractor’s workmanship was excellent. The success of our kitchen remodel is in large part thanks to the dedication and patience of Larry and AU. If you are looking to remodel your kitchen or bath, stop in and talk to Larry (better yet, to make sure he is not busy with another customer, call ahead and make an appointment). You will not be disappointed.
