Paid the extra money for a slab of quartzite from this company and they gave me what is most likely some kind of marble. Quartzite is made of SiO2, same as glass, and cannot react with acid, but lime juice eats at my counter within minutes. Quartzite is also harder than granite, but a careless move with a beer bottle knocked a chip off the counter (bottle was fine). I put the chip in vinegar overnight to see what would happen, it disintegrated. I dont know what this stone is but its clearly not quartzite, and its definitely not what I paid for. One of two things has to be true. Either they sold the cheaper, softer stone as quartzite, or they dont know what they are selling. You decide which is more disturbing.
