These aren't our first shades. The shades before Columbia's looked the same, but got moldy, and the coating couldn't take the Florida Keys abuse. We had to trash them after a few years and buy new. I happened to come across Columbia Shade Company and paid close attention to their coatings and decided to give them a try. Mind you, buying the amount of shades for our west facing house is a major investment. When they arrived, I could tell that their finish was far superior to the other company's and after 3 years still happy.”
