Had previous experience with MLI Shutters & Blinds products for my home a couple of years ago w/no problems, very professional. Fast forward to this past month and ordered 11 shutters to be installed in my home, upstairs and downstairs. I was pleased with what I saw when Nancy came by so I placed a deposit to order the shutters. Well install was quick, cleanup was great but one shutter had to be "reordered" since it had been oredered incorrectly. Looking at my window shutters from the inside all looked beautiful. My Husband brought to my attention though that if you look from the outside into the house, you can see the mounting screws that hold the frame inside the window, I went outside and there was a gap, it looked like it was at least a 1/4 inch all across the top, mind you this is our large front window so naturally we want it to be perfect, first impression speaks volumes. We checked the rest of the windows and our " dining" room windows had a gap, and two of our bedroom widows had the same issue. While measuring Nancy did mention my windows were not perfectly square, I was never told this would be a problem. I was not made aware of any issue that this may cause, hence "the gaps". I called, set photos and shared with Marla that my Husband expected a new set of shutters to be ordered for at least the large window. I was informed that Jake would come out and remeasure, or correct with either "gluing" a strip or another form of covering the gap/screws or if this was not satisfactory a Hunter Douglas Rep can be sent out to check. I made a appt., Jake and Jake came day before the 4th, Jake proceeded to prep to install strip, I informed him I was expecting a remeasure or what was the other procedure to correct without gluing. Jake stated that the other procedure would be to screw some other strip and that too would show screws, I was also informed by Jake that this is not "uncommon" and gaps happen, well if they are aware of this why isn't it mentioned during the salespersons visit AND rather than the Customer calling and thinking they are measured incorrectly and bringing to the attention of MLI it should be corrected as part of the install. I decided to just let them correct by gluing since the entire experience seemed to be too much for anyone to see our point of view, i wanted this to be over. The Shutters are great it's just unfortunate that during the process of inquiring about the gaps and how to get them fixed was less than perfect. Also my conversation with the installer (Jake) it was his demeanor (facial expressions and tone of voice) that totally spoiled the experience as well. With that said I would not want to refer this business.
