This ordinary dated master bath was converted into a beautiful home spa. Included was a walk in infrared sauna, Japanese soaking tub, a huge walk in shower, heated floors and a beautiful custom vanity.

For those that are above-average in height, standard bathroom fixtures can be difficult to truly enjoy. For this homeowner a soaking tub with a water depth that would be near his shoulders was top priority. The solution was a square Japanese-style soaking tub with a built-in seat. The stepped details add function and also cascading interest to the space, with steps to enter the tub and a shower bench seat. This large master bathroom is also outfitted with loads of cabinetry for both him and her. However, the best feature of this room is the traditional detailing brought in by the tile pattern. The neutral, travertine-look tile is elevated to new heights by varying the sizing and installation and adding in delicate metallic accents.

A traditional Japanese soaking tub made from Hinoki wood was selected as the focal point of the bathroom. It not only adds visual warmth to the space, but it infuses a cedar aroma into the air.

On the exterior, the desire was to weave the home into the fabric of the community, all while paying special attention to meld the footprint of the house into a workable clean, open, and spacious interior free of clutter and saturated in natural light to meet the owner’s simple but yet tasteful lifestyle. The utilization of natural light all while bringing nature’s canvas into the spaces provides a sense of harmony. Light, shadow and texture bathe each space creating atmosphere, always changing, and blurring the boundaries between the indoor and outdoor space. Color abounds as nature paints the walls. Though they are all white hues of the spectrum, the natural light saturates and glows, all while being reflected off of the beautiful forms and surfaces. Total emersion of the senses engulf the user, greeting them with an ever changing environment. Style gives way to natural beauty and the home is neither of the past or future, rather it lives in the moment. Stable, grounded and unpretentious the home is understated yet powerful. The environment encourages exploration and an awakening of inner being dispelling convention and accepted norms. The home encourages mediation embracing principals associated with silent illumination. If there was one factor above all that guided the design it would be found in a word, truth. Luxury master bath with his and her vanities and the focal point when you walk in a curved waterfall wall that flows into a custom made round bathtub that is designed to overflow to the stones below. Completing this spa inspired bath is a steam room, infrared sauna, a shower with multiple rain heads, shower heads, and body jets. This master bathroom remodel was part of an addition/whole house remodel. The new bathroom included a deep Japanese style soaking tub, a new shower with bench and body sprays, a laundry area, a new double vanity, cabinets and top. The cabinetry is maple in Espresso stain by Bridgewood.
