The grandeur of this formal living room is unmistakable. Soaring cathedral ceilings with exposed wood trusses are accented with sparkling iron and crystal chandeliers. The scrolled iron railing is detailed and delicate on the curving grand staircase. Custom draperies, artwork, lighting, furniture, and accessories round out this beautiful space.

While two-story rooms offer abundant natural light, they can feel cold due to the shear scale. We transformed this new space into a comfortable and elegant gathering place for a family that loves to entertain.

One of the focal points of this living space is the wall behind the couch. Because the furniture is neutral, we were able to add punches of color and personality elsewhere, like on this wooden slat wallpaper and in the throw pillows.

The built-in bookcases in this living room help provide much needed storage in a small home while helping to bounce light into the room from the windows. At night the books are illuminated by the monopoint track fixtures.

With a major wall removed this space is transformed from a living room to a living floor where different activities connect. The far wall is clad in a sugar cane based paneling painted in high gloss that unifies the space and provides understated texture. The star of the living room, a 40-foot hearth that anchors the home both inside and out, serves as a divider of public and private spaces. The owner dreamed of a natural field stone loose laid fireplace by a local Long Island craftsman. It provides a beautiful, textured focal point that suits the context of the home. Floor to ceiling windows bring light and views, while an open hall balcony above is encased in glass and natural reclaimed wood. Photography by Adrian Wilson

Luxurious modern take on a traditional white Italian villa. An entry with a silver domed ceiling, painted moldings in patterns on the walls and mosaic marble flooring create a luxe foyer. Into the formal living room, cool polished Crema Marfil marble tiles contrast with honed carved limestone fireplaces throughout the home, including the outdoor loggia. Ceilings are coffered with white painted
crown moldings and beams, or planked, and the dining room has a mirrored ceiling. Bathrooms are white marble tiles and counters, with dark rich wood stains or white painted. The hallway leading into the master bedroom is designed with barrel vaulted ceilings and arched paneled wood stained doors. The master bath and vestibule floor is covered with a carpet of patterned mosaic marbles, and the interior doors to the large walk in master closets are made with leaded glass to let in the light. The master bedroom has dark walnut planked flooring, and a white painted fireplace surround with a white marble hearth.
The kitchen features white marbles and white ceramic tile backsplash, white painted cabinetry and a dark stained island with carved molding legs. Next to the kitchen, the bar in the family room has terra cotta colored marble on the backsplash and counter over dark walnut cabinets. Wrought iron staircase leading to the more modern media/family room upstairs.
