It will depend on the quality of the materials you used and the layout of the space.... most people redo their kitchens because things are falling apart or the space doesn't function well for their lifestyle.... DO NOT do new countertops until you decide if you are going to change your cabinets or not.... doing so will lock you into the layout you have now and it will cost quite a bit to have the top removed and reinstalled when you do decide to change the cabinets..... if you don't plan on staying in the home for too long, then just clean the cabients up nicely, maybe do some new hardware, backsplash, paint and the countertop and call it a day.
However if you are staying there, you may want to hold off until you can properly remodel the space....

Hopefully a kitchen style would last at least 20 years. Sometimes the interior structure would not be as long lasting.
