Waterfall Pump GPM

I am going to build a watergarden soon. I am fortunate to have a perfect slope, I think, in the perfect spot to create a waterfall. The rise is app. 5 ft. with about a 10 ft. run. What GPM should I be looking for? My guess would be 1200 minimum. Do I need more? Also the slope is about 30 degree.

Also I have read that with a waterfall I should use a skimmer. I'm guessing I should put it toward the east end of the pond? Thinking the wind from the west will push the leaves easterly.

The size of the pond will be 15' x 8' x 24". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
