Almost looks like Ternstroemia (Japanese 'cleyera'), but hard to tell. Where did it come from? Is it in a pot or in the ground? Growing as a bonsai? Tender or hardy?

If it's tender and tropical, maybe Bucida buceras?

Hi dave, thank you for taking the time! \It's in a pot, given as a gift and probably sold as a bonsai plant. It's in Manila so it only has to deal with tropical climes anyway. Although my sister said she has seen the same plant growing in the ground as a smallish tree.

Will it be safe to assume it is B. buceras?
