It is the fruiting body of a fungus, commonly known as earth stars. Probably in the genus Geastrum.

shrooms and fungi are a free show of ma nature... unless literally attached to the plant .. enjoy them ...

they are one of natures decomposers ... so it usually means there is stuff in the soil that needs such ... so be it ... that is a good thing ...

Earth stars are pretty neat - they fold closed when dry & open into their characteristic star shapes when wet - the round shape in the center is a puff ball. The opening & closing activity can squeeze the puff ball to release the spores.
