Exposed beams

This is really nice. I especially love all the exposed structure. Are those beams actually metal/steel or just painted with something that makes them appear that way? Thanks!

They are a combination of box beams (wood wrapping something else, in this case steel) and wood beams, painted a dark grey color.

Thanks for your quick reply! They just look so smooth. Is this a special type of paint or just a regular glossy latex?

Thanks. Beautiful. A guess it's just the color and the light together that give it such a great effect.

Lighting Supply on 2nd Ave in Seattle, WA (kitchen island pendants)

An industrial catalog (with Lighting Supply's help to source them) for the surface-mounted cans. They had to be painted.

The dining room pendant is a Nelson "saucer", available at dwr.com.
