? re hunk of seedlings

Hi all,

Foxglove germinated VERY thickly. So I planted it out in hunks. Then I split up some of the hunks. Yesterday I saw some of the ones I divided have died.

I'm thinking this: if I pull the smaller seedlings from the hunk, that might disturb the roots of the remaining ones.

so perhaps I will clip the ones I don't want as close to the root as possible. I think they would then die, and their roots shrivel, and so not hinder the growth of the remaining ones.

Do you think this would work?

Any other suggestions re things which have germinated all on top of each other?

thanks,

ellen
