minibim, This is a very, very stout plant, but about halfway through picking the fruit last time, the stalk got lazy, and was almost horizontal, but never showed any signs of breaking. Also stayed green, with leaves, for more than 6 months after fruit was gone. Awesome fruit.
I'm always so jealous of your plants I try not to look at your pics... day 2 and I couldn't resist. Amazing photos.
This is my third year with bananas and I have yet to get a bloom. Only 2 of my plants are 3 y/o but unfortunately they're DC's. In my second year was when I branched out to other varieties. It's really not looking hopeful for this year. Everything seems smaller compared to this time last year but maybe I'm just impatient. My only true hope will be gran nain and Orinoco. What's your opinion on how O taste anyways?
Well, that doesn't sound promising since my husband is the one not easily impressed. And all I've put him through with the whole "gone bananas" thing. If I don't get some good eats soon, I'm gonna lose him to those boring tomatoes again.
