YES! but that was my answer before I even opened the thread :-) Having seen the plant, I would still say yes (assuming they are $10-$20). Those are really nice and clean, great markings.

I'm pretty sure it is Euphorbia grandicornis.

I dont think I have seen grandicornis with that large diameter stems,or red spines. I have two like the ones you see in the pic to the far right.
I think I have seen the big stemmed plant at the Ruth Bancroft garden,so hardier by a few cuts than regular grandicornis IF thats what it is. No name labels again.

I know the spines come out redish and sometime even greenish before they harden-off on E. grandicornis. They do look awfully large in diameter, but maybe they are just cuttings from a really big, well established plant?

Anyway, who needs labels? They are wrong half the time to begin with, and it is much more fun this way!

The one in the foregroudn with the goregeous markings is E. 'Sunrise' - I had one at one time. It's a beauty and I'd snatch it up for $12!!

It looks pretty different to me than E. 'Sunrise'.

Here is a whole bunch of E. 'Sunrise' at a local nursery. Note how the margins of the stem are much less contorted, and the spines are very small compared to the plant in Stan's photo. The picture they have over at Dave's looks very different to me too.

Yes, I think you're right, Jo. I don't grow very many Euphorbias anymore (mostly just millii and variations thereof...) There was a time when I probably would have spotted that difference. I'd forgotten what wicked spines grandicornis had!
