Can you add something like sulfur or peat to acidify your mix and you won't have to use vinegar at all. They say the water passes though so fast that the tree can't get the nutrients out. In the winter I have my pots elevated over pans to collect the waist water and use it on another plant down the line. In the summer the extra just drips in the garden for my watermelon plants to use. Nothing wasted.

Jack, if your water has a high pH, like let's say over 8.0 then yes...It doesn't hurt to forget at times and it doesn't hurt to water with it every time you water if so...

The pH of the mix in a container is much less important than in-ground pH. Lowering the pH of the fertigating solution is the more effective method, and certainly better than compromising an entire mix with something degraded like peat.

Thanks Guys, I use creek water that is neutral and very little dissolved minerals. I think I will use vinegar when I fertigate with FP and sometimes when i just water.

Um, what's a CRF?

I have a feeling you will never have to use vinegar with creek, pond, or lake water...

It's a good thing to look into..Try and see what the pH is..I'd be curious..

I do know that if I water with anything other than my tap, especially with rain water, I don't have to use vinegar.

If you do test it, let us know..I don't think that question has ever been brought up before..Does one need to acidify their watering solution at all if using natural water like that?
