Found my first broom x 2

unprofessional

I almost don't feel like I found anything, considering how obvious the first one was. Owner recalled driving past it as a child, 30-some years ago. Apparently the previous owner hid their pot in it. I was given permission to come out next winter and clip some.

Next one was just a couple miles down the same road.

I hope you know what to name the first one: 'Pot Head' haha

And, best way to get at it is to climb up halfway and use a pole pruner from there.
This has worked best for me in the past with similar situations.

Nice finds, and best of luck!

I particularly like the first one. While many people enjoy the mini and dwarf size cultivars, I enjoy the medium growing ones just as much!

Youngster? YOUNGSTER? I'm turning 28 in two days. That's old! =P

I thought the same thing on the name, Sam. I still climb trees to prune, and with a pole pruner, it shouldn't be too bad.

"Apparently the previous owner hid their pot in it."

Were they a family of monkeys?

28 ay? You are just old enough to have college behind you and at this very moment you don't know if you should have caring thoughts about everything and everybody or, not give a damn about either and begin living your own life.

When you hit 40 (that's me real soon) then you are allowed to share stories about doctor visits with people you don't have a clue who they are. At 50 and beyond, you eat ice cream for breakfast because you certainly do not give a damn anymore what anyone thinks about anything.

    Have a nice day now.

    Jon, that's not a yellow sport/mutation, it's a variegated one.
I'm very sorry to say, but my personal experience is that one at every 100 'Smaragd' specimens produces such a branch which will rever back to green after a while...

Good to know. I remember reading that about some arbs, but couldn't remember which. Not a fan of them generally.

Got zapped by cattle fencing to get in and take this shot, but got a better look at the forth broom today. Attached. The steers were very curious as to what I was doing.

Jon, this 4th broom could be very interesting if it remains it's coning thing when it's grafted...
