I'll bring you beautiful Florida-grown Tomatoes this week. I've been eating them raw for a week, with no problems. I'm not going to stop eating veggies, but will try for locally grown produce only.

More incentive for everyone to have a backyard veggie garden! If we grow our own we know how they were cared for and handled.

DITTO on what Lisa said. I just wish I could grow tomatoes in summer. We have local growers this time of year from Immokalee selling along the roads from the back of their trucks. I really trust them. I have been buying from them for years. As long as it is local grown I am comfortable. I'll bet that the bad tomatoes are foreign grown!!! I won't buy any produce from outside the US...EVER! You never know how they cultivate or their water conditions...blecht at the thought. We should not be bringing fruit and veggies in from other countries for any reason. OK I said my piece. lol

Oh Cyndeea, you have just declared California a foreign country. :-) That's where the tainted spinach came from a while ago.

I feel sorry for all the tomato growers, especially since it may not have been the tomatoes at all. Could have been cilantro, onions, basil, stuff that is eaten with tomatoes.
